The Comic Series: Originally launched in 1996, Jason Pearson’s initial Body Bags mini-series was incredibly controversial, but strong reviews of both the story and art led to immediate sellouts nation wide and created a loyal rabid rabid fan base. With a story focusing on a father/daughter relationship, set inside the world of bounty hunters and cold-blooded killers, Mack and Panda's story hit an emotional cord with many readers that has not faded over the years.
But now it’s time to bring back Mack and Panda. Right here. Right now.
And it can only happen with your help.
The Creator: My name is Jason Pearson and I am most recently known for my cover and interior artwork on Marvel's Deadpool, but my resume stretches across the full spectrum of the major comic publishers. From Marvel to DC, from Dark Horse to Image, I've done work for all the majors in the industry.
The Kickstarter: All the money raised will go toward the production costs of this new Body Bags series. I will write, draw, and color the entire series, with letters by Michael Heisler.
The story, titled "Don't Die Until I Kill You," will run a minimum of 80 pages. If stretch goals are hit, it could go up to 96 pages.
As each chapter is completed (estimated to be in batches of 20 pages each) the digital edition of the chapter will be sent to all backers. The final, printed edition of the graphic novel (as well as other rewards) will be mailed upon completion of the entire story.
There is also an art book included in this campaign. If stretch goals are hit, pages will be added and it may be upgraded to a hardcover.
Finally, cool items like prints, stickers, cards, signed trades, and original art are available to backers.
Over the last few months, as a test run for this campaign, I created a series of Body Bags shorts called "Threebies." These were quick stories that helped me get ready to bring you this all new series. Check out a few of the pages below. If you dig 'em and want to own your own comic of the entire "Threebies" collection, it is available as a reward level of this campaign:
A few pages from the sketchbook are below-- these are some of my favorite commissions, collected in this book for the first time.
I have three sets of prints (two per set) that are available at different reward levels. These will by signed, 11" x 17" prints. Check them out below:
I am doing a limited number of Mack and/or Panda commissions. If you buy one of these they will ship separately from the printed books and other rewards so you can get them in your hands early. Below are examples of my inked commissions:
Risks and challenges
Since this is my first Kickstarter, I'm going into this blind, but no matter what obstacles come up, I am committed to working through them and getting this story out as soon as possible. I will keep everyone updated on my progress so you will stay informed.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
