ACOPAL is a league of artists whose mission is to build a creative and philosophic exchange between realist painters in the United States and China. This non-profit organization was created in 2010 with the purpose of creating dialogue and exhibition opportunities, and to enhance artistic education to meet the growing interest in traditional painting in both countries.
Since ACOPAL was founded, we have produced two important exhibits of American and Chinese realism, at the National Arts Club in May of 2011, and at the Butler Institute of American Art in 2011-2012. Next, the organization is collaborating with our colleagues in China to produce a six-city national museum tour of American Realist Painting in China. This will be the first tour of contemporary American realism in China, and marks an important moment in the resurgent field of realist painting. The China museum tour will open at the Beijing World Art Museum in September of 2012, and travel to the Dalien Modern Museum, Hebei Provincial Museum, Zhejiang Provincial Museum, Hubei Provincial Museum, and the Shanghai Art Museum. The expected total museum attendance for this tour is over one million people, over a period of 15 months.
ACOPAL is very excited to be the American arm of this historic bi-national artistic collaboration, and looks toward an exciting future with planned exhibits of Chinese artists in American museum venues, and growth in cultural understanding and friendships. To support this mission, ACOPAL is seeking funds for the expenses for consolidation and crating the American paintings from all over the US to travel to Beijing. We are also raising funds to support 20 American painters’ airfare and hotel expenses to attend the opening at the Beijing World Art Museum. Artists will participate in panel discussions, demonstrations and lectures at the Beijing Central Academy of Fine Arts, and tours of art and cultural institutions in Beijing.
Your support will help build this historic cultural bridge between two nations over one shared passion for art.
