Dear Kickstarter Backers,
It's been a while since we posted anything here. We've gone radio-silent, but during that time the company has undergone a major reorganisation in order to meet your and other clients expectations, which is shipping more JIVRs.
Earlier this year, reinforced by your comments, we realised that some serious changes would need to happen in JIVR or else we'd never be able to deliver your JIVRs. Launching the production process was an exhausting task asset-wise which required cutting corners in other areas, therefore, the company structure was not ready to ship thousands of JIVRs, instead of mere dozens we're shipping now. Raising more funding seemed like a way forward, however, without the right team onboard and reorganised production process eliminating bottlenecks, it'd never be possible. With that in mind we decided to take a step back and reevaluate.
Having said that, we've made (or are in the process of making) some serious changes to the organisational, production and financial side of business.
Most importantly we've brought more talent in, so that JIVR's success doesn't rely solely on my skills and time, but it's a team effort. We've brought in an experienced COO, with background in finance, who has in the 8 years of his CEO career built two high end goods businesses from no employees and revenues to respectively 100 ppl and +€10M revenue. For the past few months he's been in charge of restructuring JIVR operations-wise to enable growth.
Moreover, in December we have a seasoned Technical/Plant Director joining JIVR too. Over the past 20 years of his career he's both ran production organisations in the automotive industry of many hundreds of employees and built startups from scratch too. He deeply understands the manufacturing technologies we're using and is an expert in production processes setup and optimisation.
With those people involved in the production reorganisation process we've managed to remove the largest bottleneck of our production process - frame building. We've managed to cut frame production time in half and significantly improve quality by implementing a new manufacturing method. We've also outsourced production of majority of other components that in the past were manufactured in house. We're now recruiting +20 ppl to kickstart increased production.
With all these successes we approached prospect investors with help of a boutique investment bank and I'm glad to say we've got commitments for the total amount of funding we're seeking now. Details of the round will be announced once the paperwork is signed and funds wired.
All in all, this should increase our production capacity to about ~300 units/mo, starting from mid-January and significantly increase the chances of shipping your JIVRs in large batches.
It is our intention to have your JIVRs shipped in the first of the large batches, so that we can fulfil the promise we made two year ago. I personally massively appreciate your support and backing, despite the tough journey.
I believe it'd also be a good idea to meet in London to discuss this in details the way we did before. If you're up for it, let's find a date and meet. I'd also be glad to present you the final version of JIVR, including our early customers feedback.
Marcin & the Team.
