Long Gone Gulch is a animated series created by Tara Billinger & Zach Bellissimo. We both currently work in the animation industry but are very passionate about making our own cartoon. It has been under development for over five years. We are ready to go into production with our series pilot and we need your help! Give us the chance to show you what we can do! Let's make something unique!
If you’re lost in the desert and get caught in a sandstorm, you’ll probably die…or end up in LONG GONE GULCH! An oddly vast place where creatures of legend, myth and folklore all around the world co-exist together in harmony…sometimes! Thats where our sheriffs, Rawhide and Snag come in! Rawhide is an energetic weirdo who is the only human born and raised in the Gulch, and Snag, a rebellious slacker, is one of the only human outsiders to enter the Gulch. Together they must constantly keep peace through out the Gulch’s endless miles of weird and strange. Along with the help (or lack there of) from their friends, The Mayor, Squatch, BW and Pinchley, they can restore the mystic town to its former glory.
Legends never die, they just end up in Long Gone Gulch.
This is definitely going to be an awesome journey that will appeal to fans of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Alice in Wonderland, Mad Max and The Mighty Boosh.
Fantasy, Comedy, Adventure, Western.
We were inspired by the idea that no one has made a western themed animated series that isn't just a parody of famous movies. We also didn't want it to be a full blown western, we wanted to sprinkle other elements into the mix. We love the weird and mysterious, the epic-ness and pace of classic westerns and how grand yet limited they were. There’s something haunting and elemental about legends, myths and folklore that stokes the imagination. We'd love to experiment with the paranormal folklore you hear in western tall tales but we didn't want to stop there. We wanted to bring all kinds of folklore from around the world to the Gulch and retell them in our own way. When people think of westerns, they think of the color brown, dreary atmosphere and dirt wastelands. The environments of LGG will have that western feel but ours will be more colorful, more lush to provoke whatever the scene’s mood is. No brown here, folks!
Our goal is to produce a 8 to 11 minute fully animated pilot. The more money we raise, the better the cartoon. We'd also have more resources to make it high quality and maybe later make more episodes or a 22 minute origin pilot. 100% of the funds raised will go into the production of the pilot. The pilot would mostly be done by the creators but some tasks will be freelanced. Including voices, music, comp. Ext. Production will begin immediately after it's funded. We would like to get it done within a 5-8 month estimated time frame but it may change depending on the freelancers.
*Everyone will get a high quality animated pilot to enjoy.
*Supplying you, the supporters with super cool rewards.
*More money means more resources and freelance needed to mold this into something special.
*We can respectfully pay hard working people in the industry for their talents used on the pilot.
*Possibly more cartoons and rewards!
To cover the project, we worked hard to balance quality and cost efficiency in preparing the budget. Here’s how we plan to utilize the funds raised. As you can see, most of the requested funds will go towards the talented people/friends from the industry we want to hire for the pilot. We would like to pay them respectfully for their hard work and time. To show how serious we are the creators will not be using any of the money for themselves through the campaign. They're working for their drive and creativity and to see this get done. The rest is being used for KS fees and shipping/packaging and postage. As well as creating a plethora of the best rewards for our loyal backers.
The Pilot Time Frame :
We are going to be working extremely hard to ensure that you get to see this pilot in a time range of 5-8 months from the launch. Having multiple animators, painters and layout artists will increase the work flow. At present, and at the stage of completion we are at, we are quietly confident that we can deliver the cartoon on time.
Why This Amount?
We know this is a lot of money to ask for. Though, creating a high quality cartoon isn't cheap and takes a lot longer than most of us would like. Here's the initial breakdown on why we're asking for $25,000.
1) We establish our team for the project, get them up to speed. Assign work.
2) We continue to make the storyboards and put them into an animatic.
3) We assign the animators scenes (most important drawings to tell the story and acting) and layouts (In order to see if the characters fit before making the actual backgrounds).
4) We have a composer add a score, clean and color the animation and make the background paintings from the layouts.
5) The last step is compositing - which is where the shots are melded together. We make the effects, lighting, shadows and color grading. The last details are polished.
Again, cartoons tend to be a bit pricey since we're paying multiple people to do multiple jobs. It's all a team effort!
*Pilot gets made with outside investment.
*The fans get to be involved in the development process and see each step on how it's made along the way.
*Securing funds for a series can take years to get off the ground.
*We want to create a pilot everyone would enjoy and quickly!
As independent animators we require outside funding to produce cartoons. As you can imagine, the process of rounding up financial support the other way takes a long time, years, usually. We've decided to seek funding from fans of animation. Going through a campaign is the fastest way to bring the pilot to life. Without any interference.
This also gives you, the fans and supporters a chance to help make a cartoon you love possible! By working with you we can make the show faster and better than by traditional funding streams. A campaign offers us that rare opportunity and it makes the long process of making animation so much more rewarding, inspiring and worth it knowing that we have people around the world believing in us.
Future plans? Anything behind this project that you want to tell us?
Our only goal is to be able to create a cartoon pilot. We've worked on this idea for so long, we'd like to see it finished and we'll do anything to make it happen. We are very passionate about the series and have a lot planned for the story and characters. It is very hard to keep things secret at this point but we know not to spoil too much. We just want to make something that is unique and funny. As well as to inspire other artists and animators to not wait to create. We hope this leads us and others into making more episodes and other original content.

Risks and challenges
It is a challenge to keep an interested audience in waiting time of the long process of making animated films. It will take about 8-10 months estimate but we're hoping with the extra hands on this project it will get done much quicker but only time will tell once production starts. Another challenge is of course to make something as awesome and high quality in this short time frame. We can only say that we promise that we will be doing our best and update you the whole way through on here or on our Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook sites! We promise we will deliver!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
