Door Handing

Hey guys,

Here just to thank you for your support through private messages and as the time for our survey approaches share a bit more information about door handing.

Door handing

First step is to determine your door’s handing, doors are handed from the outside of the door (that’s why the little guy in the pic seems to have an odd technique to open doors), so a good way to tell if you have a reverse hand door is if you are standing facing the outside of the door and you have to backup (reverse) when opening it, it is a reverse hand door. If the hinges are on the left side of the door, it is a LHR. If they are on the right side of the door, it is a RHR.

This handing technique is referred to as "the butt to butt" technique

The door swings in and to the right, it is a RH.

The door swings in and to the left, it is a LH.

The door swings out and to the right, it is a RHR.

Latch direction

A picture is worth a thousand words:

Just in case, here be the words:

RH: If you are standing outside the room where you are installing Ola the curved side of the latch should face you and the flat part of the latch should face the inside of de room.

RHR: If you are standing outside the room where you are installing Ola the flat side of the latch should face you and the curved part of the latch should face the inside of de room.
