Man has finally done it. We have perfected Artificial Intelligence, an independent being that can think and emote entirely on its own. That can learn and create. That possesses, for the first time, a personal magnetism, just like a human being.
And they are called ConneXions…
Created by Latimer Industries on Earth, the ConneXion Series is the most advanced and innovative robotic line to date because of one feature: crystal technology. ConneXions are made from a mixture of metals, synthetics, and most importantly, carefully chosen and crafted crystals to fit the functions and personality of each A.I.
But despite this staggering achievement, Latimer Industries is not satisfied. They push the limits of what is possible. They need more from their creation. A ConneXion cannot merely exist. It must have a function.
They assign five ConneXions to exclusively lead the Latimer funded space expedition to ANANKE, the dwarf planet hidden near the Asteroid Belt. The mission will determine if habitability is possible for human life.
We are introduced to our ConneXion crew in the middle of an unexpected but urgent deep-sea expedition on ANANKE. It is on this quest that our story truly begins and a discovery is made that will change A.I. and humans forever. Once found, there’s no turning back, and our ConneXions are thrust into a situation they cannot escape!
While this is only a brief explanation to ANANKE’s complexity as a visual narrative, I hope it has piqued your curiosity! My team has put their collective heart and soul into this anthology. We want this to be a one-of-a-kind reading experience that not only entertains and excites, but also teaches.
This science fiction is designed to provoke questions.
It was created to introduce readers to specific science disciplines that are integral to ANANKE’s world, like electromagnetism, cymatics, and piezoelectric crystal technology (to name a few!). At the same time, I'd like to bridge the gap between science and spirituality, and show how science can support spiritual ideas through new emerging data.
I also examine the mysteries of our ancient cultures with a new magnifying lens! There are still so many unanswered questions about our ancient predecessors, artifacts, and structures, and I’d like to open these mysteries up for discussion with my readers!
For a little over a year, I've been developing the visual skeleton of ANANKE: The Prologue with Illustrator, Aaron Parks, from beginning to end. The script is complete and copyrighted. We have the entire story visually mapped out with detailed storyboards, concept art, mood boards, and color palettes. We couldn't be more ready and prepared to take this graphic novel to the next stage of development with more detailed storyboard paneling, inking, professional lettering and distribution. We just need the funds to take us there!
Creating a graphic novel for digital and print distribution is no walk in the park. It’s more of a cross-country marathon! Unlike a comic periodical, which is generally 30 pages, a graphic novel can be over 100 pages! Between the writing, editing, storyboard paneling, penciling, inking, coloring, lettering, printing, and distribution, the labor involved is quite extensive and costly. In order to get the absolute best work possible, having the necessary funds is a must.
Our Kickstarter Budget for $20,000 will fund the completion of ANANKE: The Prologue (minus the coloring). This is roughly 100 pages of B&W detailed drawings and texts that will include penciling, inking, and professional lettering. It will also cover fees, book and prize shipment costs, and Kickstarter prizes.
We then have our 1st Stretch Goal of $25,000. This will cover coloring ANANKE: The Prologue. Coloring the pages require more funds because of the work involved, but it is a well worth endeavor!
Our 2nd Stretch Goal is any amount over $25,000. It will go towards the FUTURE of the ANANKE Series, Volumes I, II, & III. My creative team is dedicated to seeing this anthology to the end, and your enthusiasm and support will take us there! But the Prologue is the beginning of this journey. None of it can happen without your continued support!
THE GRAPHIC NOVEL
We have some great and unique prizes to offer our donors, including the graphic novel itself, through digital print, soft cover, and hardcover. Unlike many graphic novels, this book will be in landscape page format so you can feast your eyes on more visuals and get lost in the details of the page’s wide space.
All physical books will be printed with PrintNinja, so you can rest easy on the quality. They’re one of the best online printers out there! If all goes according to plan, we should be shipping books exactly one year from today (October 2017). I will provide updates throughout the year, so you know exactly what’s going on.
We’re printing all of our stickers through a silkscreen printer. Each sticker is run through a press 7 times and three clear coats of Gloss UV-Protective ink and four passes of color are added. You will be getting the best and highest quality stickers on the market.
Art Cards will be printed 5”x7”, with a matte laminate finish, on a thick high quality paper (the kind that other printers call "premium"). The quality will be beautiful enough to frame despite its size, I assure you!
Posters will be much larger in size: 18”x24” - printed on Satin finish 80#, cover stock - 220 GSM (← very high quality!) You will be able to pick posters A or B! After Kickstarter is complete (and funded!), I will send a follow-up message asking what poster you'd like! Posters are shipped in a sturdy cardboard tube. (Note: If there are duplicates with Art Cards and your Poster choice, I will change Art Card image so you can have 3 different prints!)
Showcase your ANANKE pride with a custom embroidered patch, specifically designed for the Latimer Industries ANANKE Mission! The patch will be 100% embroidered with merrowed edges.
A lightweight, comfortable t-shirt with 90-100% ring spun cotton and the original ANANKE Mission Badge silkscreened in the middle (Version A) or on the upper left hand side (Version B)! The inks are high quality plastisol combined with professional screen printing and dying for a visually striking tee that will last for years to come!

Risks and challenges
I may have been developing the ANANKE series for 5 years, but it’s still my first graphic novel. I can’t tell you how many books and blogs I’ve read, how many panels I’ve attended at Comic Con and Otakon to learn the ins and outs of graphic novel making, and professionals I’ve personally communicated with. These five years have been dedicated to story developing, editing, finding an artist, estimating the cost, fine tuning the budget and rolling up my sleeves to move this project to PHASE 2 - CROWDFUNDING. But even with all this preparation, I have to consider unforeseen complications. Nevertheless, I am determined to take on those challenges and meet the expectations requested of me with a quality graphic novel that’s delivered on schedule.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
