The Story ....
John 3:16 is a short film about a man named JOHN SELLERS who is driving across West Texas when he gets into a terrible traffic accident. His car flips over and he's trapped inside. His leg is crushed, his seatbelt jammed, and there’s no cell phone reception.... and there's nobody there to help him... It is a bad situation and without medical attention, John is going to die.
A few hours after the accident, two hikers, JIM and LOU-ANNE, happen upon John and rush to his aide. They tell him, “It's going to be okay. Just try to calm down. We’re gonna save you."
What happens next is absurd, terrifying, and hilarious. John slowly begins to realize that Jim and Lou-Anne aren’t interested in saving his physical body . . . but instead saving his soul. They're very well-meaning, but also very crazy, and rather than taking his phone to the top of the hill where there's a signal to call for an ambulance, they want to pray for his soul and save him from spending eternity in an everlasting lake of fire.
I really don't want to reveal any more than that at this point . . . But I can tell you that what happens is really quite funny and, of course, quite dark ...
Here's a film I made called Oh My God that played at Sundance, Clermont-Ferrand and at over 150 other film festivals .... It won the grand prize award at North America's largest comedy film festival, the Just for Laughs / Comedia film festival. It should give you an idea of the dark humor and absurdity I'm aiming for:
Why I want to make this film ...
Story rules -- it's really the only reason I think any project should ever be made -- and I think John 3:16 has a great story. And it's funny. I think it's important to mention that this film is not trying to make a political message and it's not about vilifying Christians. For me, it's simply a satire that explores religious zealotry in a dark, funny, and absurd way.
Where the Money Will Go ...
Here's a very basic breakdown of how our budget money will be spent:

Here's the trailer for my feature film The Overbrook Brothers, which you'll get a signed DVD of if you pledge $75.00 or more!
The Cast ...
Risks and challenges
There are always risks/challenges with every production -- whether it's bad weather, faulty vehicles, cameras breaking ... or hard drives crashing -- those are some of the challenges my production teams and I have dealt with in the past. But we've always pulled through and finished the projects. There might be delays or unforeseen obstacles that get in our way ... and if/when these challenges arise, we'll simply deal with them or adapt to them ...
I've produced 2 features and several shorts and feel like I have a good track record to stand behind -- I've always completed every project I've started -- and I'm confident we'll complete this project IF we can raise the money. But, remember, if we don't raise $8,800.00 or more -- we get nothing! We need your support to help make this project happen! So please donate and spread the word!
On a final note: I wrote this story over 3 years ago, and I've been wanting to make it ever since. It just took me a while to "figure out" how to pull it off from a technical standpoint without it costing a $30,000. I feel as passionate about this project today as I did when I first wrote it. It's a fantastic story and we have an incredibly talented cast -- and I believe when you see the final film you'll be happy you helped us make into a reality.
Thank you again so much for your help and support!
