I am offering the first-ever catalog of prints of my work for the upcoming "Sublime Creatures show.
A way to give my work to you:
Creating my paintings is a way that I give service to the world through my vision. Through this medium of the catalog, I am offering my work to you in book form - so that you can have a little piece of my gift to the world.
About the catalog
The catalog is a full-sized, binded book with full-color prints of the paintings for this exhibition. The bulk of the book will be images of my work. It will also contain an essay about my work by Maiza Hixon, the Curator of the Delaware Center for Contemporary Art, as well as an introduction written by Margaret Winslow, Associate Curator for Contemporary Art at the Delaware Art Museum.
The Exhibition
This November is my solo exhibition at the Delaware Center for Contemporary Art (DCCA). This show, Sublime Creatures: The Animal-Human Hybrids of Hunter Clarke, will feature all new work from my Beastiary series' which began with my first pregnancy. Works from this series have shown in the area and at various locations in NYC. You can find a review of my last solo show here.
What I am Making for the exhibition & book
I am make three new large canvases that are inspired by ornate, dramatic Christian imagery from the Renaissance. In particular, I am working from images of Mary with infant Jesus and St. Sebastian, the martyr. These are continuing a theme of transcendence and spiritual transformation that I have started this year with works on paper (which will also be in the catalog) such as No coming no going:

and When afflictions are enlightenment:

Along with the large canvases and the works on paper, I will also be showing smaller works such as Feel the stillness move:
Why I am Asking For Your Help
As an independent artist, I want to share my work with as wide an audience as possible. Many of my supporters might not have the budget for an original, but would like to have a catalog to share the images. I'm turning to Kickstarter so that I can hire a designer to create the catalog, while I can concentrate on making the artwork. I also want a way to engage supporters throughout the entire process.
What Your Contribution Will Go Towards
Your contribution will go towards the cost of designing, publishing and printing the catalog. With your help, I can get the catalog designed and put together by a professional, leaving me with the mental space and energy to concentrate on creating my best work for the show. The funds will also pay to have the work professionally photographed, for the best possible images in the catalog.

Risks and Challenges
The paintings themselves are well on their way to fruition, so each of these gifts will be ready as tangible gifts of gratitude for your contribution. I think the the biggest risk is of a delay in the design or printing process, so that the catalog could be slightly overdue.
Risks and challenges
Some challenges we might face in completing this project are finding the right designer to put together and edit the text and extended printing times due to printer turnaround during the time of printing.
