As I walk, in the middle of the night, through the quiet forest, I feel its magic and its mystery. Fireflies glow all around me - I feel alive and grateful. They communicate with me. I listen. This is my Firefly Experience...
Hello, my name is Radim Schreiber and I am a professional nature photographer and cinematographer. I became inspired by the beauty of glowing fireflies when I came to the United States of America for college. I grew up in the Czech Republic where fireflies are very rare. In 20 years, I had seen them only once. They have always intrigued me and the abundance of them in the United States inspired me to photograph them.
For the past nine years, I have spent countless evenings and night hours photographing fireflies. I crawled in ditches and swamps, getting attacked by mosquitoes and chiggers in my striving to catch exceptional photographs of fireflies, in their natural habitat, without digital manipulation or, needless to say, supplemental lighting. My photographs have been awarded by renowned international photography competitions, such as:
2015 – Smithsonian Photo Contest – 1st place
2012 – National Geographic Photo Contest – Finalist
2011 – National Wildlife Photo Contest – 1st place
2011 – Smithsonian Photo Contest – 1st place
2011 – International Garden Photographer of the Year - 2nd place
2009 – The Rainforest Alliance Photo Contest – Grand Prize
2008 – The Rainforest Alliance Photo Contest – Grand Prize
Firefly Experience Book:
I have collected my best photographs from the last nine years, some of them never published before, and designed a hardcover coffee table book with exceptional quality that I am very proud of. Among many firefly photographs, lightning bugs, and other bioluminescent creatures, I have included additional information about the photographs, stories and some basic information about fireflies. And guess what, the book cover glows in the dark!
I am fund-raising money to cover a portion of the cost of self-publishing 1000 books. I am grateful for your support. Your support will not only help me to pay for the books, but also support me to pursue my dream as an fulltime artist. Please share my campaign with your friends. The book is getting printed as we speak with expected delivery before Christmas 2017.
Thank you for your support!!! <3

Risks and challenges
The book is completed, I have finished the design, layout, and proofreading and editing of all text, and even reviewed first advance copies of the book. The book is now being produced and printed. While the company I am working with to produce the book is US based, the actual printing process takes place in China. This is where the majority of books that are printed in large quantities are produced. The paper from the book is produced from sustainably harvested wood.
The only foreseeable risks and challenges that could potentially delay delivery of the final product to you would be related to the shipment of the books overseas (ie. a customs inspection that delays the containers), or if there were an error in the printing process that warranted a reprint of the books to be done. In the case of such delays, you will be notified at once and given updates on the status of the books as often as I receive them from the print lab.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
