Post-Office Arts Journal is a platform for critically engaged response to exhibitions in Baltimore’s alternative arts spaces, as well as a publication ground for theory essays that might not fit anywhere else. What are alternative art spaces? Alternative art spaces are venues that don’t fall into non-profit or commercial paradigms.
After self-funding the publication of Post-Office Arts Journal vol. 1 no. 1 that was released at New York Art Book Fair 10 at MOMA PS1 as well as the publication of Arts Criticism and the Arts Outpost (a panel transcript), we're reaching out to garner support for the publication of POAJ vol. 1 no. 2 as well as a reprint of vol. 1 no. 1 for this year's Publications and Multiples Fair (April 9/10, 2016 at the Baltimore Design School).
Volume 1, Number 2 will be a similar publication to the first issue -- a 32 page publication, brass bound collection of essays that have been published on the website between October 2015 and March 2016. Additionally, some new pieces will be released in this issue first, exclusively in print-only form.
The issue will be printed on heavy, 105 gs/m2 white stock in a monochrome blue ink. It is bound with brass fasteners through a blue cardstock cover that makes the biannual volumes a uniform, collectible item for the book shelf.
Risks and challenges
The only possible risks we're working with is balancing our schedule and deadline to make sure that this newest publication is ready by April 9.
We're not worried about the possibility of a delay because issue one's template layout allows for a huge amount of the layout work to be expedited. The logistics of printing have all been pinned down, so we'll be able to move through the publication process efficiently.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
