The Conservatory of Flowers & some deadly plants

Just an update from Skid Row. We just recently had an amazing event at the Conservatory of Flowers singing alongside the unveiling of their new exhibit, Wicked Plants: Botanical Rogues and Assassins. There's a great video now on our Kickstarter page from the evening and a little information from Peter Matthews & Nick A. Olivero, the Artistic Directors of Boxcar. As well as being AD, Nick is directing the show and he and David Moschler, our Musical Director Extraordinaire, share some reasons about why the Kickstarter project is so vital for this production as well as some more specifics on the crazy ideas they've got that we need your help to get off the ground.

So, make a pledge (and if you already have, thank you and now can you get one friend to sign up for one, too?) and help us hit our goal!

Little Shop's First Week of Rehearsals

We've just about completed our first week of rehearsals and Little Shop already looks and sounds great! With the amazing group of artists Boxcar has assembled, this show is sure to be an awesome experience. With the incredible support of our Kickstarter donors, we're already nearly 1/3 of the way to our goal.

This week, we started out the rehearsal process with Boxcar's first rehearsal tradition: a potluck. With a whole lot of amazing homemade food, we kicked things off right and read through and sang through the whole show. As we promised, this is a Little Shop unlike any you've ever seen before. With songs you've never heard from the first production nearly 30 years ago, to different takes on Audrey, Jr., and so much more.

We're also excited about our upcoming cabaret, The Darker Side of Broadway, on Saturday, April 23rd at 8pm at the Boxcar Theatre Studios. The artists behind Little Shop are gathering together and singing some of their favorite songs from the more morbid shows from Broadway's history. From Sweeney Todd to Cabaret to Spring Awakening, there's a little bit of everything for everyone. Join us for the show and meet the folks behind the show in person! Tickets are on sale now and all proceeds benefit Little Shop (tickets include admission, cocktails, and a wine reception). ( for more information.)
