The Prince is a tale of a young prince who has difficulty finding happiness, despite his wealth and good fortune. On his quest for a cure, his journey leads him to adventure and self-discovery. It is a simple story with a powerful message, for children and adults alike.
Phu T. Van is the writer. His father was a source of many valuable life lessons and philosophies, including the wisdom the prince discovers in this book. When his father passed away in 2007, he wanted to celebrate his strength in the form of this children's book. He had the story written for many years, but this project was on the backburner while he worked on other creative projects, his doctoral dissertation on protein imaging, and searched for an illustrator.
Annie Lu is the illustrator. She has always liked to draw and make things. In class one day, she was drawing a portrait of her friend sitting in the seat in front of her. This friend, Sara, saw her doodling, and mentioned that her friend Phu was looking for an illustrator for his children's book. A wonderful partnership was born!
We started collaborating on this project in January 2013, and have been working on it slowly but steadily between our respective PhD and medical student responsibilities. We started documenting our progress during the past 7 months on our blog. Please check us out at http://makingtheprince.blogspot.ca/
Now, we are proud to finally be in the last stages of publishing our book, and we hope that you'll share our excitement in this home stretch!
Thanks for taking the time to learn about our project! Please consider supporting us in making this book available in print to friends, family, and everyone else who is interested. With your help, we hope to make our book and other rewards available for Father's day on June 15th!
