The funding of Creature Studio is by no means dependent on the money we raise here. Rather this is our chance to invite you all to be a part of a dream that’s three years in the making. What we raise here will go towards the many details that will make Creature Studio a unique and curious space to come and be your best creature.
Jenn and Ray cannot thank you all enough for your love and support. The excitement of sharing this next chapter with all of you has pushed us forward these last three years. You are our family. And we hope we make you proud.
Creature Studio Atlanta
Creature Studio is the manifestation of love, hard work, early mornings, late nights, patient children, loyal and lovely clients, worry, details and doubt, talent, trust and ALL of the coffee. And most of all: the support and guidance of our community filled with artists, entrepreneurs, mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers, brilliant weirdos, dream girls and wonder boys, free spirits and open minds. This is our chance to do something beautiful.
Let’s jump in together.
The concept comes from three years of creative collaboration between soul-mate visionaries Jenn and Ray Jones. They have carefully thought through every single detail of what they want to build and how they want to build it. Client happiness is more than a must. It’s a mandatory promise. Because every decision they’ve made together is about you all. The supportive, wonderful and curious client family we’ve created since making Atlanta our home.
Creature Studio Buildout
Creature Studio is the embodiment of everything Jenn wants to give her clients in a space that is welcoming, safe, nurturing and healthy. It’s the next realm of holistic hair care.
Everything is coming to life at 900 Dekalb Avenue in the historic and tree-canopied neighborhood of Inman Park. We have almost 3000 square feet of space to build you the best, most comfortable and welcoming salon in Atlanta. Creature Studio is a chemical-free holistic environment and Atlanta’s first Organic Way (Oway) certified salon. That means no harsh, dangerous chemicals ever.
Right now, 900 Dekalb Ave. is a completely empty, cold dark shell. To bring it together will take an enormous amount of vision, skill, labor, hope and persistence. In order to build a space that fully embodies the Creature Studio we want for our client family, it’s also going to take a significant amount of money.
This fundraising campaign will not only help offset some of that cost, but more importantly it gives you all the opportunity to to be a part of this journey. Let’s build something we can be proud of together. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
A Brief History of Jenn Jones - Lead Creature
Organic hair care has been a passion of Jenn’s from the beginning. After graduating from an Aveda Institute in North Carolina she moved to Atlanta to work for Van Michael Salon, a full-service Aveda concept salon. She quickly excelled as a color specialist and in 2007 moved to New York City where she continued her work at several independent salons in Manhattan and Brooklyn. In 2011 she relocated back to Atlanta and worked as lead educator at the Aveda Institute. After two years in education she felt called back to the salon floor and has worked independently at several salons in Atlanta while beginning the process of shaping what is now Creature Studio.
In early 2014, Jenn knew it was time for her to embark on her own journey. She didn’t know what it would be called, how it would look or even how to start. But she trusted her gut and opened her mind to the daunting and beautiful possibility of creating something all her own.

Risks and challenges
Building out a raw space can be quite the adventure. One that doesn't always come with a map. Where we have worked tirelessly to implement a sound plan and construction schedule for Creature Studio, there is always the unexpected. We are prepared for bumps in the road and have done everything we can to prepare for those challenges. We have hired the best specialists to manage the logistics of the project as well as to keep us on schedule to meet our deadline. We have full faith in our General Contractor, Architect, Engineer, Designers, Financial Advisors, Permit specialist, Lawyer and consultants. Every decision we make goes through the minds of our best and brightest allies.
Two major positives we have built into our development is ...
1 - The opening of Creature is not solely dependent on the money we raise through this campaign. We have secured other sources of financing. We’re simply asking for the help of our community to put us over the top and into dreamland.
2 - Construction on the larger building has already begun, our lease is signed, our construction plans are being drawn and we have already begun designing the interior of the space. So we are well underway!
Jenn and Ray are in the business of making tough decisions. Although they’ve never had their own space before both have been independent contractors for most of their careers working in industries where meeting high standards and staying on deadline are crucial parts of the work.
We commit to our audience to be transparent and forthcoming with information during the entire process. We will share construction updates through the Kickstarter page and through our social channels.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
