About this project
Project: M.O.T.H.E.R., as seen on the award-winning television show "The Big Bang Theory", is the brain child of independent filmmaker Nate Brandon. Brandon has spent months developing this bold, new series to ensure readers will engulf themselves in the intense science-fiction odyssey based in the universe of Project: M.O.T.H.E.R. Brandon has teamed up with some of the hottest up-and-coming artists in the comic industry to create an epic, on-going monthly title. Sy McGrath, a talented newcomer to the industry, and Kate Finnegan, the colorist for the increasingly-popular "The Legend of Oz: The Wicked West" published by Big Dog Ink, are joined by several other future stars to help craft the tales of Project M.O.T.H.E.R.
At first, Brandon set out with the goal to make a comic series like none other, but it has since evolved into a project that is going to help struggling artists get their start in the comics industry. Brandon has started a publishing label, STRICK 9 COMICS, with the goal of helping creators connect and collaborate and, ultimately, see their titles published and made available to comics fans everywhere. Brandon's intention is to kick start the comics industry into a new era where creator-owned titles are more available than every before.
As for the initial goals for the project, Brandon is hoping to raise $5,500, which will be used to defray the costs for the artist, the colorist and the letterer. In turn, that goal will help us sell our comic and assist us in providing our reward perks for the Kickstarter campaign.
Beyond that initial goal, Brandon and the team have developed two other monetary totals they hope to accomplish. If the project is able to raise $10,000, then STRICK 9 COMICS will be able to produce two issues of Project: M.O.T.H.E.R. and give the title a boost toward becoming self sufficient. Secondly, if this campaign is able to raise $22,000, then the Project: M.O.T.H.E.R. team will hit the road for a variety of convention appearances to help spread the word and meet all of you, the fans, all while making new friends and contacts along the way.
If Brandon and STRICK 9 COMICS are able to reach the other two unofficial goals, then the contributors will also benefit as the Kickstarter rewards will include several very special additions.
Any profits made by the sale of Project M.O.T.H.E.R. will be used to help STRICK 9 COMICS assist creators in publishing their own titles.
Now on to a little bit about Project: M.O.T.H.E.R. Issue #1
The story focuses on two main characters in M.O.T.H.E.R.4 and a woman named Donna Walsh. It seems that Donna Walsh, a politician on the planet TXR-12, the capital world of the Winshai Empire. Walsh, it seems, has gone missing and M.O.T.H.E.R.4 has been tasked with covertly taking her place in the political ranks.
As M.O.T.H.E.R.4 worms her way into a seat of power, she discovers that her entire mission is in jeopardy when Walsh is found alive.
M.O.T.H.E.R.4 knows that in order to keep her covert operations on track, she must eliminate the threat and employs an experimental timeline device that will allow her to travel back in time to the day before Walsh is found alive and make sure that never happens.
And so begins Issue #1…

Risks and challenges
Like any new venture, there are a handful or risks and a slew of challenges standing before Project: M.O.T.H.E.R. and STRICK 9 COMICS.
First and foremost, the challenge of raising $5,500 is no small feat. That's where you come in. Without folks who are willing to contribute to the creation and the distribution of creator-owned comics, the industry may forever be packed full of generic titles with the same ol' adventures by the same ol' characters. If we're able to reach our monetary goal, we'll be that much closer to helping raise awareness about what great entertainment creator-owned titles can bring to the industry. This goal will help us tackle the challenge of paying the creators, as well as the first print run through Toledo Publishing.
Of course, raising $10,000 is even a greater challenge, but the reward for STRICK 9 COMICS is that the title will likely become self sustaining. The first month's returns will pay for the third month's comics, and the second month's returns will pay for the fourth month's comic, and so on and so forth.
Any profits left over will be used toward the funding of other creator-owned titles under the STRICK 9 COMICS umbrella, giving little-known and up-and-coming artists, writers and creators a chance to get their work into the hands of the fans who would truly appreciate it.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
