Update on Approvals, Unique Game Piece

Posted by Jasco Games (Creator)
Greetings Blue Bomber Fans!

So in the last update we spoke about the unique game piece, and how we had submitted the final graphics. We finally heard back from Capcom on several things, and we're here to update you with results.

Graphics Approvals

So apparently there is a new producer for Mega Man at Capcom. There has been some interesting notes on our graphics, but for the most part it's simply centering on the dice. We were asked to revise one of the dice faces last time, and now they're coming back with another. Originally, for our “Run” dice face, we evidently used unofficial artwork, but the rest of the dice faces were approved; with this latest pushback, we were now told that the “Aim” dice face was unofficial and couldn’t be used, but we learned at the same time the original “Run” face was official. We have 'officially' pushed back saying if possible we'd like the original “Run” dice face that we were told wasn't official but apparently now is as well as keeping the “Aim” dice face. This seems to be the big hang up right now. We have some emails going back and forth but are waiting to hear from Capcom on our dice proposals.

Color Game Pieces

Oddly, as the person who writes this update was starting the process, I received an email from Capcom approvals. And good news! All the color pieces have been approved! So we've already started production on all of them. The saga of this was that one of the Mega Man's had skin color on his neck, and Capcom wanted it to not be skin colored. However, when we told the factory, they decided that it was actually supposed to be an entirely different thing based on some artwork they saw somewhere and changed all the Mega Man pieces neck guards to be the same color as his chest. This of course, was not what we wanted, and we had to go back to them and then it took them a little while to get the models back to the original state and fix the one in question. With Fire Man, they wanted the flames lighter, removing the eyebrows from Oil Man, adjusting the pink on Rush to be lighter, and Sniper Joe to have a silver belt buckle instead of gold.

They asked us to submit when we had all of them, so even though we had the updated non-Mega Man pieces, we had to wait until we got the updated Mega Man. Now that the game piece hurdle has been finally crossed, we are now just waiting on final graphics approval and we hope that comes quickly.

Unique Game Piece

For the highest backers, we offered a unique game piece. This is something that we're producing through other channels since we need significantly less, and so therefore it's been started later. We used models as a base that had already been approved to try and speed the process. As you can see below in the images, we are having the unique game piece be Mega Man on his faithful companion Rush!

We were waiting to make sure Capcom saw it first before we could show our backers, as they've requested to see things first lately.  However, now that they have seen it, we have it here to view.  They have some comments on how Mega Man is standing and some notes on Rush, you can see them here:

Since we're not using a middle man this time for sculpts, our response time has improved greatly.  Today he gave us the following updates:

      Oh my mistake.

    2. Justin on

Yeah, saying you're going to give up on the entire game and sell it off because of one little figurine is a bit much.

    3. Monty Colver on

Obviously people are entitled to their own opinion, but if you feel that not having one purely aesthetically different piece makes a game incomplete in some way, I would respectfully recommend re-considering your reasons for gaming.

    4. Jasco Games 5-time creator on

Yes, @Justin is right, this is not a 12 inch figure! Just a special unique piece for our highest-tiered backers.

    5. Justin on

Snycher, are you thinking of the "Limited Edition Resin Statue of Mega Man"? That's different. I believe this is the "Unique Game Piece".

    6. Snycher on

According to the backer stuff though it's just for that one tier if you look at the main page. Also...last time they had it worked out that thing is going to be 12 inches?!?! Now I really want it. That thing is going to be worth some serious cash.

    7. Curt R. on

      You know...

They haven't shown a final painted version of the "unique" figure yet. Just the untextured model.

And as far as I can tell they make no indication of its color/properties/paintjob, other than "unique"

They could still theoretically appease both ends by giving the high tier backers a gold version of the sculpt, and regular backers a standard painted version (perhaps for sale, or in a later campaign) and violate none of their previous statements, nor any of its uniqueness/exclusivity.

The Gold Version would still be a unique figure. The rest of us, would not feel slighted at missing out on the sculpt/a complete set.

      Just saying.

I don't have high hopes they're listening, but just saying.

    8. David

Ugh. If I can't have a full set (like I thought I bought) I guess I will just selling the game. Anyone want to buy an extra copy? I don't like incomplete games.

    9. Ikalios

Wish I could have a copy of it but paying 2000$ for a boardgame, you deserve something special. . And it is indeed

    10. safyrejet on

...Uh. Well. I suppose I'm in the minority, but Thank You Jasco for at least sharing pics of the high pledge level unique game piece. I mean, that's kinda the point of unique and exclusive. Only a few people in the world get to have it. And they usually have to have paid big to do so. There's an awful lot of exclusive items out there I'd like to have and few that I do. That's life. I'm not disappointed. This Mega Man Rush piece is pretty amazing and I'm glad to at least be able to see it's design.

    11. Justin on

Aaron, this is for the $2,000 pledge levels.

    12. Joseph Le May

That second Rush does look way better.

    13. Joseph Le May

That second Rush does look way better.

    14. Aaron on

Was this available as an add-on? I don't even remember this was a thing. I thought I had bought a complete playset through the pledge manager / add-ons. Certainly hurt my wallet enough to get enough of everything for a "complete" set

    15. Justin on

There are MUCH BETTER figures out there folks. Ones you can actually buy. I wouldn't sweat it. This is just another teeny tiny little figurine.

    16. Massimiliano Luisi on

I want that mega man piece.

    17. Eddie G. on

It looks amazing! It's a bummer that rent, food, car expenses, insurance and clothing took all the money that could have gone to pledge for one ;). How can we all convince you guys to please, please make this available for purchase to your faithful backers? Even at 20-30 dollars I would've plunked down the money for one. It's just too awesome for it to be so exclusive to only those who had the big bucks to put in :(.

    18. Jordan York on

It's too bad that the coolest piece will only be produced in a run of 8... I'm sure that's a model that many of us would have enjoyed. Oh well.

Awesome news, thanks for the update!

    20. Nicole Persram

Never noticed the unique figure till now. Wouldn't have been able to get it either way, as the tier was too high. Too bad it looks so epic.

    21. Brett Bringer of the Avalanche on

@AJ... I at least wish the unique one wasn't one of the coolest ones.... I mean have it be Megaman with a victory pose or something. but megaman flying on rush? Sigh...

    22. AJ on

I don't know who's idea it was to make this so elite without even giving people a chance to know it would be an option, and then to announce it to everyone as a sort of positive promotional bit, but surprise this is pretty distasteful to be honest... It feels disrespectful.

    23. McCartney Kellam on

Looks like that unique piece is going to be one of the rarest Mega Man items right of the gate at only 8 total in the world. Of course, there's only going to be 3 of the resin statues globally. I guess I'll be keeping an eye out on eBay a few years from now lol...

    24. Brett Bringer of the Avalanche on

And now looking back at the original tier descriptions... I see the unique model in the description for the highest tier... I just never knew what that meant until now. Well... guess I can't complain given that... but I can't help feeling disappointed either.
Keep up the good work though Jasco. Happy to see this making good progress!

    25. Nocturne on

I also wish I could have the "unique" piece :(

    26. Nocturne on

That's more or less what I'm saying, though at the same time, since they -did- do it, they should have just kept it hush-hush with the top-tier backers, I think.

    27. Brett Bringer of the Avalanche on

Side note: that unique piece is amazing... really nice work. Just wish I could get one...

    28. Brett Bringer of the Avalanche on

Like the update... but really don't like the unique game piece for high end backers only. Not saying they don't deserve a special nod... but that really stinks for everyone else. Where is this line drawn by the way? I thought I was going to have a full set of everything in this KS... and now suddenly I don't.

    29. Nocturne on

I don't know about anyone else, but since the "unique game piece" is only for the highest-tier backers, I kind of wish that information on it was emailed to them directly instead of being included in a regular update. It's not like anyone except for them will be able to use that piece anyway... Unless it's ever rereleased.

Other than that, congrats on the color approvals!

    30. Snycher on

Speak of the devil. Nice update
