Welcome to the WarGods Kickstarter!
We're now have less than 3 hours of the program remaining. We wanted to make it simple to get involved... so we've made some easy-to-read graphics for the reward levels, showing all the minis and extra 'freebies' that have been added so far.
To get started playing WarGods, any of the following rewards will have what you need: Skirmish, Warband, and Warband - Miniatures Only. They all get you the Kickstarter-exclusive 'freebie' miniatures like the Titan Hunter, Oracle of Delphi, and Helen of Troy. And with the freebies included, these deals offer a savings of over 25% of the retail cost of the package! If you are an International backer, the Warband - Miniatures Only reward is a great value, as it has a lower shipping cost, but you still get a PDF to play the game!
Thanks for stopping by and for all of your support!

A little lower we have graphics for all of the rest of the reward levels, but please check these out first:
What's the deal with the Stretch Goal Map?
This is a fun way to show off the stretch goals that we have planned. We've already achieved our basic goal of $25,000 - now we are expanding our goals, to unlock more options to purchase, add 'Freebie' miniatures to some selected reward levels, and make the book even better! The little Croc Logo represents our progress in the program; we start in Sparta and we follow the dotted line across Olympus. When we get to each new funding level, the stretch goal for that location is achieved!

The WarGods of Olympus softcover rulebook will contain over 250 pages, lavishly illustrated throughout with color and black & white artwork by renowned artists Des Hanley and John Wigley. The rulebook will include an extensive gallery of miniatures painted by some of the best talents in the game industry, and a stunning scenery gallery by Herb Gundt (aka H.G. Walls.) Also included are 2 full-color sheets of Command Counters. The rulebook contains the rules for 6 city-states (Sparta, Mycenae, Troy, Athens, Corinth, and the Amazons) and the Titans. It also includes all the rules and powers to create 10 different Demigods. WarGods uses 10-sided dice, available from all hobby and game stores. The rulebook is planned for release in July of 2014.
The Game World: WarGods of Olympus is the 3rd game in our expanding game world. The first was WarGods of Aegyptus, based on Aegyptian mythology, and the second was the Wendigo Warband Guide, based on the legends of lost Hyperborea. All of these games share the same basic rules and take place in the same world – they are designed to be played against each other! So, if you play a Spartan warband lead by a Demigod of Ares, you can fight against a Harbinger of Anubis to control the Aegyptian Underworld!
More than anything, WarGods was designed for gamers who enjoy creating a cool story when playing the game, not just winning. The rules reward real tactical play, not rule-breaking gimmicks and unstoppable heroes. The background is a fascinating mixture of real mythology and historical cultures with an innovative fantasy twist. If you've ever watched and enjoyed old adventure films with Greek heroes battling against stop-motion monsters, WarGods of Olympus is the game for you!
Thanks to the San Diego WarGods players: Narrator: Wade, Camera: Donovan, Spartans: Tony, Anubi: Joe, and thanks to Mike Biel for logo animation.
All of our miniatures are hand-crafted in lead-free pewter and provided with plastic slotted base. All miniatures are sold unpainted, unless the reward level description specifically states otherwise. The size of an average human warrior is around 30mm scale. The Trojans, Spartans, and Mycenaeans all have a September 2013 ship date. Amazons are expected to ship in October 2013.
How to order miniatures:
On the right side of the page are our reward levels. Simply select the reward that has the assortment of miniatures that is right for you, and pledge to that level. At the end of the program, we’ll send you a survey where you'll be able to tell us what faction you want, as well as some specific requests like shield options, etc.
All 6 factions have now been unlocked: Spartans, Mycenaeans, and Trojans (all shipping in September) Amazons (shipping October), Corinthians and Athenians (shipping July 2014). Each of these factions has the following packs of miniatures available in the reward options:
Warband Starter Set: a box set containing 1 Phalanx of 12 spearmen, 1 Herald with standard, 1 Musician, 2 Honor Guards, and a king (Amazons get Penthesilea, Trojans receive Aeneas, Spartans receive Tychedes, and Mycenaeans receive Agamemnon.)
Phalanx: 12 warriors armed with spears and shields. The miniatures of this unit are posed with a front rank, middle rank, and rear rank, with the spears of each rank held at a slightly higher angle. This ensures that the models don't bump into each other when placed in formation, and creates a cool cascading 'wave' effect when viewed as a complete unit.
Swordsmen: 10 warriors armed with swords and shields.
Archers: 10 miniatures - 9 Archers armed with bows and a Captain.
Peltasts: 10 miniatures - 9 Skirmishers armed with swords, javelins, and small shields, and a Captain.
Hero: with Armor Rack (a small extra miniature that can be used as scenery or as a game objective.)
Captain: with Casualty (a small extra miniature that can be used as scenery or as a game objective.)
Each unit will contain a number of different poses, usually 3 or 4, but sometimes more for the Phalanxes. We like our units to have lots of variation!
The Demigod is the leader of your warband. Each Demigod has a selection of 10 different powers -- for example, Hades can command the dead and summon a monstrous 3-headed hound to protect him, Poseidon can control the creatures of the deep and cause the earth to shake and stun his enemies, Hecate can call upon dark magics and the powers of the night, and so on. Choose the Demigod you like best to command your warband.
Each Demigod miniature is supplied with a 25mm square plastic base, and is about 35mm tall (on average.) We've designed them to be just a little taller than 'mortals', to help convey their supernatural power! The Demigod miniatures are available individually or as a complete set, so choose the reward level that works best for you. At the end of the program we'll send out a survey where you can specify which miniatures you want.
All of the Demigod miniatures were sculpted by Chris FitzPatrick, based on concept art by Des Hanley. Actual sculptures may vary from concept art; we'll update the images as the sculptures are completed. Click on the images below to see larger versions!
The Amazons have been unlocked! Amazons are available in the same troop options listed under the Trojans below. All Amazon rewards have an estimated delivery date of October 2013.
The Amazons are the legendary women warriors of northern Hellas. They are allies to the Trojans, and bitter enemies of the most other city-states. We've designed our amazons to look dangerous - these are not cheesecake pinup girls, but deadly, cruel warriors who mean business! Here's a preview of some of the Amazon miniatures to come:
Note: The Amazon Hero actually comes with a square base.

The Trojans are the legendary warriors of Homer's The Iliad, who fought a long and tragic war against the united Greek city-states. Our Trojan miniatures were designed to have a mysterious, eastern feel, with a nod to historical Bronze Age armor, weapons and imagery but realized with a dramatic Hollywood flair. Each Trojan miniature is around 30mm scale, and is supplied with a 20mm square plastic base.
Below is a complete listing of the Trojan miniatures that are available as reward options, planned for release in September 2013:

We've already released the rules and background for the Spartans, Mycenaeans, & Titans. These are detailed in our webzine, Croc Tales, and you can download your free copies here:
Spartans and Titans are in Croc Tales 7, Minotaurs and Satyrs are in Croc Tales 6, Titans are in Croc Tales 2
How do I get Add-Ons?
Kickstarter only allows 1 reward level per backer, so if there is something you would like to get in addition to your reward, you can include Add-Ons. Simply increase the actual dollar amount of your pledge level by the value of the Add-On - once you submit the page, Kickstarter will take you to Amazon's checkout to authorize the payment. You can change your pledge value any time before the end of the project. No payment will be taken until the project is funded on June 30th.
One of our backers made a pledge calculator to help figure out the total cost of add-ons. Thanks Marker for all your hard work!
At the end of the program, we'll send you a survey where you'll be able to specify the particular Add-Ons you want.
There is no extra charge for shipping Add-Ons unless stated next to the price.
Risks and challenges
Miniature battle games require a huge amount of effort to get right. They need great rules and an exciting background, professional artwork, and dynamic, well-sculpted miniatures. Crocodile Games has been hard at work on this project for a long time. Our game rules are already deep into the playtesting stage, we have binders of artwork already completed by some of the best talents in the industry, and dozens of new miniatures ready to go into production... we've done about as much as we possibly can on our own, now we just need to raise the funds to put all this together.
We realize that there are bound to be unexpected challenges that will crop up, which is why we've given ourselves a safe buffer on our delivery dates. We've been in business since 2001, and since then we've published several books and produced vast numbers of miniatures... so we've got the experience to deliver our rewards when promised with the best quality possible. We're going to be making weekly updates to keep our backers informed on our progress all along the way. We're looking forward to doing the rest of the work to make WarGods of Olympus a reality!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
