In the Green Mountains, you never know what you might find. Faeries...maniacal steam-powered contraptions...or even better―both!

We're Shakespeare on Main Street! Part of the Poultney Summer Theatre Company, we are a troupe of actors and artists gathered in the small town of Poultney, VT. We have been in existence for the last decade under the artistic direction of Gary Meitrott. In 2010, we added a Junior company to our Shakespearean family. Each summer, we present vibrant, personal productions of Shakespeare's works to the public. For years, Shakespeare on Main Street has been bringing beauty to its small community, despite being faced with a small budget and no permanent theater space.

And that's where you can help!  ^__^

For 2012's summer performance, we are presenting Shakespeare's magical romp A Midsummer Night's Dream. Not only is the play itself a work of illusion and splendor, but we are setting this world in the fantastical style known as "steampunk". For those of you who aren't sure what this is, steampunk combines elements of Victorian English beauty and science fiction (think Charlotte Bronte meets Jules Verne) to make a highly-detailed, highly-decorated, and eclectic style. Shakespeare on Main Street feels that this aesthetic works beautifully for the depth of visual imagery presented in Shakespeare's play. As for talent, we have some great people on our team this year―both on the stage and off. From veteran actors to rookies, from the director to the costumer, we strive to provide, not only an entertaining show, but an entire world to surround and astound you.  With bustled ladies, begoggled Mechanicals, and opulent yet rag-tag faeries, we guarantee a spectacle that beggars all description.

Here's the catch: no matter how phenomenal we are (and we are phenomenal), theatrical productions require money. There are costumes to be constructed, set pieces to be built, programs to be printed, and some hardworking artists to be paid. All of that really adds up! And when money is this tight, every dollar means something. Our money is always tight, so every dollar always means something to us. That's where you can help. For your mammoth magnanimity, not only will you have our eternal gratitude, but we'll shower you with gifts in return! Take a gander to the right of the page and see if there's anything that suits your fancy.  Posh particulars, jaunty jewelry, and amusing accoutrements await! Every dollar counts and we really, really, really appreciate it!

Thank you for checking out and supporting our small-but-mighty troupe!  *high five!*

Sincerely,
The Dramatis Personae of Shakespeare on Main Street
