Wow. Just wow.
Thank you all so much. 150 backers in 24 hours. I'm incredibly humbled.
I was walking through TechShop yesterday and a friend, who had seen the project video, jokingly commented that I was internet famous. Hardly, I thought to myself, but we shared a laugh. He continued, "What's that quote? That 'on the web, everyone will be famous to 15 people.'"
I hadn't heard that before, but it turns out to be Clay Shirky's twist on the famous Andy Warhol theory.
Last night, I thought a little more about the quote. And specifically about you. If this is it for me - my "15 People of Fame" - then I'm the luckiest guy ever. I'm really grateful to be on this adventure with you folks. I know we're going to have fun, and learn a lot, too.
I had set the goal at $2,500 because I thought that was the support I needed to finish the book - the monetary equivalent of 100 True Believers. Well, we obviously got there. And in less than 24 hours. That blows me away.
To keep the momentum going, I wanted to share with you my Wildest Dream Goal, which is to get to 1,000 backers. I love the idea of 1,000 more makers joining the movement, and 1,000 more dream inventions and product ideas coming into the world. Let's do this!
