About this project
The author/illustrator Tammy King never knew she would one day become an accomplished artist. In fact, until she reached her 40's she never even tried to draw anything. Her life changed dramatically when her husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. While spending countless hours in waiting rooms of a seemingly endless array of doctors' offices, she began to doodle to relieve stress and pass the time. She immediately received a compliment on her drawing and before long, the entire waiting room gathered around her to see her creations.
After much prodding from family, friends and total strangers, Tammy has agreed to publish her illustrations. As demonstrated in the photos above, her drawings are very simple but each one manages to convey its own unique personality. Somehow, without any artistic training whatsoever, she has been able to create these works of art that are appreciated by all ages. The book is designed to make people laugh and scratch their head as the characters seem to come to life. Inkies -- Simple Drawings of Complicated People will surely be found on coffee tables, in briefcases and not so coincidentally -- doctors' waiting rooms. Please contribute so that the book may be published and others may be able to enjoy this newly discovered talent.
