Stretch Goal: New Expansive Insanity Rules

23 likes
"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far." (The Call of Cthulhu; H.P. Lovecraft)

.

Insanity is not an affliction; it’s a way of life.

Once this goal is funded, we’ll add new expansive insanity rules to the book. These won’t just be a rehash of previous attempts and not simply a port of Call of Cthulhu rules into Pathfinder.

Game Masters will have new tools for corrupting the very reality of their campaigns. Players will have new options for creating characters that live with cosmic terrors, as opposed to just being consumed by them.

Breaking the veil of forbidden knowledge has benefits, as well as costs.

 "A fundamental aspect of Lovecraft's philosophy is that the human mind is not all-powerful, that there are things we are not meant to know, and that if we really tried to understand them, would destroy our minds. Many of his entities do not even obey our universe’s natural laws, and just seeing them risks madness."

We will release NEW STRETCH GOALS every evening around this time. Make sure you check back each day to discover what we reveal NEXT!

All in the support of a great charity.

      Sandy,
      Could the expansive rules Jane level of simplicity? Relatively new to Pathfinder and am at times feeling that I am more of a regulatory reference researcher than a gamer trying to figure out if something worked or not.

      @Black
      Sandy should have innovative ideas for them, though. (After all, he wrote the first insanity rules ever for an RPG when he wrote CoC).

      Boy, those are expensive insanity rules. :)

      Insanity rules? I have to say that is rather disappointing as there are multiple insanity rules either already available via the D&D 3.5 SRD or soon to be available via Paizo's Horror Adventures.

      ah, going the daily goal instead of the stretch goal.
