3100 backers! Mutant collector's figure now unlocked!

We are really excited about this one! So much so, that we are going to show you the photos that Fenris Games sent us of the Mutant. It is, technically, not finished or molded but you can certainly see how terrific this model is going to look.

The Mutant is one of the Monsters available to the Opener of the Way. His Cultists are actually able to "grow" into a Mutant, and then, later on, the Mutant can grow into an Abomination, and so up the line.

The exclusive versions are grey copies of peices you already get… you will only get the grey rxclusive if you are getting the normal faction copy. Ie some will cpme with cultist or CDG other will pnly come if you have the apropriate expansion.

If you look at the stretch goal list it tells you pn each goal how to get the exclusive. Again, the exclusives a grey copies of stuff you already get … cost 7-15 cent ( source - hearsay)

Everything looks totally fantastic :-) This is going to be the best game by far! But I'm getting a little confused as to what's included with Cultes Des Goules pledge, are all these extra figurines included as stretch goals, or do I need to pledge more to get them ?

Remember that the figures tend to have large circular bases which mitigates the "topple over" effect. But yeah, the figures are almost all in action poses, lunging at the enemy and stuff.

It could also be fimo. If I'm remembering correctly, fimo can also have that wonderful green color. Although, green stuff is probably correct, since that's sort of a workhorse sculpting material.

Regardless, it's an extremely well done model. Never really dealt much with Fenris, but this definitely makes me want to in the future!

Looks like Kneadatite Blue/Yellow (Green Stuff) Epoxy Putty.
      Great stuff to work with.
The guys at Fenris are good, check out there range.
I get to see them at most of the local shows as they are only about 15 miles away (ignoring the minor issue of the Thames in the way)

That's crazy good sculpting. Do they sculpt it actual size? That must take forever to get all those details!

Is it me or are a lot of those sculpts leaning forward? So far Hastur, the undead, Lovecraft and the mutant all lean forward. Pose is important but gravity center is, too. Even if the base can compensate, it's still making the minis easier to topple.

You know you got things right when all that's left are minor gripes like this.

We do not send them a 3-D image. This is all done the old-fashioned way. First I write a description of the critter for Richard Luong. Then Richard does a 2-d concept work (you can see lots of them in the KS images). Then we review it together until we are both satisfied (Ithaqua went through like 6 versions). Then Richard marks modeling notes on the concept, draws the concept from several angles, and we send it to Ian at Fenris Games. Then Ian's modeler(s) try to turn Rich's 2-D concept into a 3-D model, carving in sculpy (or whatever they use).

      Looks excellent as usual XD
I seriously can't wait to see the Nightgaunt model tho! I noticed the progressive mutations of this faction in the artwork (like many i guess), i reckon this mechanic will be very interesting to play with.

Was offline all day, hoped to come back to news about custom dice or EU shipping or storage or maps or starter tokens or everything bundles or… well you get the idea.

That is a nice looking sculpt though, and exclusive to boot!

That's amazing. Do they do that from a 3D image that you send them? How do they get such detail?

Amazing detail. It's going to be hard to play the game at first because I will be staring at the sculptures in awe an not concentrating on my next move.

Wait till you see the Abomination - the "next stage" in the Opener's progression.

      Sean C, couldn't agree more. We're kinda lucky :)

Those are fantastic... I really have to say no sculptor could have done any better on any of these Cthulhu Wars models than what they have accomplished already!

My wife's comment was, "That's disgusting, even for Cthulhu!" :D

Looking pretty sweet I must say. Going to be fun to see how these badboys paint up.
