KS Update 157 - Cthulhu Wars VF Launched

Cthulhu Wars VF Launched

In an effort to get Cthulhu Wars into the hands of people around the world we have launched our first foreign language campaign.

Cthulhu Wars VF is the French language version of Cthulhu Wars. And it is not just for the people of France, but all French speaking people around the world.

Right now we are offering the Core Game in French as well as a pack for people that already backed, but depending on interest, we will increase the amount of translation, hopefully all the way up to the DVM.

If you have friends that speak French, please share this with them.

We have more coming, and other new and exciting projects as well.  Keep watching the stars.

The time is getting closer

What is this?  Boxes getting loaded and shipped you say.

These are pictures of the first container that already set sail.  We just wanted to tease you guys with the pictures we did not post 2 weeks ago.

Sandy and the team are at Board Game Geek Con all weekend long.  If you have a chance to stop by and see them, please do.  They may have something for backers.

Any word on when things will ship from China to those of us in row land? Y'know, Hong Kong and China are pretty close...

I agree that the vast majority of backers seem happy with us. To the point now that we actually rely on you guys to counter the rare verbal attack by trolls or the disgruntled. That said, the complainers are squeaky wheels that need greasing. I will say that we want to get the entire game, with all expansions, to you as soon as possible. Our interests are the same as yours in this regard - the sooner we get the expansion into your hands, the better it is for US, too.

Have you seen the Brown Sign?

Lol, I'd like to believe that the words that carry the news of shipping delays are best kept from backers as they would wring the sanity from a man's mind. Best to only speak of such things in whispers and never say the words themselves.

I'm not sure I've seen a whole lot of rancor, either. Fact of the matter is that almost anything is forgive with communication. The problem is with the KS out there who think that being silent is better than passing on bad news. Because, apparently, the Gaming Fairies will make those problems go away all on their own.

    6. Justin Gadze on November 22, 2014

Yep. Im in the 'meh' boat with John Foster. There's not many games where the wait has been more justified than Cthulhu Wars- knowing that the game will turn out as epic as this seems worth it.

@Arthur: How about an add-on only pledge for anyone who didn't have the cash flow for the exclusives? I haven't read French for a few decades, so this should be an amusing KS to follow.

I give a big "Meh" at the supposed rancor. For every complaint posted I'd like to believe there are dozens of us sitting around perfectly content and excited just to know the game has shipped and the expansions are moving along in the process. Even major established gaming companies frequently have numerous delays because of the realities of getting products manufactured. You guys have done great, and besides delivery estimates are called estimates not "%100 guarantees".

    9. Arthur Collaborator on November 21, 2014

With all of the rancor over our incorrect delivery estimates of the core game, I am constantly surprised at how many want us to break silence on our expectations for the expansions' delivery date. We can't yet, but know that they are in process and will get to you as fast as we can make it happen. I spent 2 weeks in China mostly dealing with expansions (plus core game) issues and they are coming along.

    10. Arthur Collaborator on November 21, 2014

Yeah, we are constrained on the price of the uodate pack because if the expected small print run. Nevertheless, it will contain quite a bit of material - several large die cut sheets, the faction cards, etc. it may include, via stretch goals, some of the expansion materials for the same price.

Where do we stand with all the remaining figures and expansions now the initial core game is being shipped?

    12. bintz on November 21, 2014

35$ just to get an updated rulebook and cards in french, i'll pass, that seems way too expensive for me, especially after spending around 200$ already on the game

On French project ! I hope it will be found !
Some news of EU package ?

@Andreas - They are at 10% already. I'm sure that they are going to blow away 40k.

    15. Arthur Collaborator on November 21, 2014

Yes, even 1000 print run (which is the only realistic minimum for us) is quite expensive, not to mention fulfilling the same for however many backers it would take for a 5 kilo game. The truth is, 40K is NOT enough, just as it was not enough for this kickstarter. Many successful kickstarters put their funding lower than necessary to garner support. Our margins are not as amazing as you might think!

Can anyone tell us if the other two ships have sailed?

    17. fourmyle on November 21, 2014

      Good luck, guys! :)

    18. Andreas Kotschote on November 21, 2014

Wow really great, BUT you need 40k for this? Wow I hope you will get it, I am just afraid you wont and the german translation will fail... :-(

    19. Arthur Collaborator on November 21, 2014

We are planning on doing a German one next - but want to have this one up first. I think the German one will probably launch before this one is finished.

    20. Willem-Jan Bertram on November 21, 2014

Well good for the French, quite a big market segment as well. Thinking there may just be as big an interest for a German version.
