Quantum Quest - Fantasy Dungeon Dive with Roguelike Elements

Quantum Quest is a standalone card game that challenges two or more players to put together teams of stalwart adventurers to outlast their opponents in a living dungeon. Electrifying spells, sinister traps and treacherous monsters stand in the way of survival, but things only grow more difficult when the heroes start acquiring chambers in the dungeon. Escape is futile; survive while you can!
Quantum Quest is designed to appeal to anyone who fondly looks back at classic gaming from the 90's. Featuring characters that look like they could have been ripped right from Super Nintendo or Playstation platformers and beat-em-ups, there's sure to be a hero that'll be your favorite. And even if you've never touched an old-school system, you're sure to love this gorgeous art by sprite artist Sergei Churbanov.
Quantum Quest was created by Michael and Matthew DeAngelo, two brothers who want to bring their love of games to others. They co-founded Black Furnace Games in order to bring their own games to life, and Quantum Quest is where it all begins. In order to fund and create a premium-quality print run with Panda Games (Boss Monster, Scythe, Pandemic), Michael and Matthew need your help!
In order to be financially feasible, Quantum Quest needs to raise $15,000 on Kickstarter. This will account for the minimum size of the print run, as well as the cost of shipping and fulfillment of an order of that volume.
We want our game to be especially affordable to you, our earliest backer. With that in mind, the basic pledge of $25 gets you the full game, including shipping (in the US). That's a $5 discount on what the game will cost at retail. We're also offering bigger rewards, like bonus heroes and the ability to design your own hero or chamber for the game. You'll only be charged if the Kickstarter is funded and successful.
In Quantum Quest, each player takes control of a party of five adventurers, and goes through a dungeon of at least twenty chambers, with more added for every additional player over two. This dungeon crawl is always different, thanks to the assortment of cards. Almost all of these chambers exist for only one purpose: to put the hurting on the adventurers.
Player's spend mana to control these chambers, which serves two purposes: first, they can no longer harm their owners; second, the owner decides how their enemies take damage when landing on these rooms. It's a fun, spiteful way to come out on top!
Our game also benefits from an interesting end-game phase. If all your adventurers perish in the dungeon, you're not kicked out of the game. All the rooms you owned before your untimely demise remain yours, and get a boost since they're haunted. You can choose to deal double damage to your surviving foes when they land in these chambers!

Quantum Quest is an extension of one of Michael's passion projects. He's worked on a series of fantasy books for the past seventeen years, and Quantum Quest loosely connects with those books.
Several of the characters that feature in this game come straight from the novels and novellas of that book series, and if we're successful with this Kickstarter campaign, you can be sure that more characters are on their way with booster packs and full expansions.

Laboratory - $35- The Game + DLC + Kickstarter/Convention Exclusive Character Booster Pack, Old World Legends:
By upping your pledge to $35, you get a slew of extra content. First, we'll start you off with a bunch of digital swag to go along with your game—we're calling it DLC, or Digital Lover's Content. This features behind the scenes views at how cards evolved, a look at how the box art changed over time, a Quantum Quest novelization, and your name featured on the Quantum Quest website in the special thanks section.
But here's where things start getting really awesome. We're offering up a pack of adventurer cards that you can only get here on Kickstarter or directly from us when we attend conventions—these will never be available at retail. And that's just to start—the more we raise, the more you get.
Earth has its own mighty heroes (and villains), and we're giving you a chance to get your hands on them. With the Old Worlds Legends booster, you get to add the likes of Thor, Merlin, Isis and Arachne (among others) to Quantum Quest.
Barracks - $100 - Become an adventurer + Laboratory Rewards - LIMITED (2 per class)
This is one of our most entertaining rewards. You can get in on the fun in an even greater way by working with us to add a custom character to every version of the Quantum Quest base game. You'll also receive all the rewards from the Laboratory pledge level.
(Character is subject to Black Furnace Games approval. We'll accept most anything, as long as it isn't offensive, and it fits with the game—no hard sci-fi in this set, for instance)
Aviary - $100 - Prototype version of the game delivered by Xmas + Laboratory Rewards
Let the ravens loose—Winter is here! We'll get those ravens to carry a prototype box of Quantum Quest to you before the holidays. You'll still get the retail version of the game when it officially releases (as well as the rewards from the Laboratory pledge level), but you'll also have a game ready for you months earlier than retailers will!
Note: the prototypes will not include create-an-adventurer, create-a-chamber or stretch goal cards, but the retail version will.
Architect's Lair - $120 - Engineer a chamber + Laboratory Rewards - LIMITED (1 per class)
Maybe you'd rather punish the explorers of the Living Dungeon, rather than delve into it yourself. If that's the case, why not become an evil architect? At this level, you'll work with us to design a chamber that will put the hurting on the adventurers. You'll also get all the rewards from the Laboratory pledge level (and a QQ USB card for your digital content).

Throne Room - $250 - Signed copy of a card, original artwork, your name in manual + Laboratory Rewards
The ultimate reward! At this level, you'll get everything from the Laboratory pledge level, but you'll also get to select one of our adventurers. We'll send you a signed copy of that card, and have our long-time artist collaborator Hozure work with you to complete custom artwork of that character. You'll also be included in the game manual as a contributor, so that everyone can see that you're a hero of Tellest!
It's a mantra that was made very popular by Mythbusters (though I think it can be attributed to Ayn Rand as well): If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing. With that in mind, we've got a handful of stretch goals right behind the curtain. If we reach our goal, we'll unveil everything we have on the agenda.
At the same time, humility is a virtue, so we'll keep our cards close to our chest—pun intended—until then!
Risks and challenges
The cards have been designed and playtested to our 100/100 rule of thumb: at least 100 people have played our game for over a collected 100 hours.
We're already working with a prepress specialist at Panda Games to ensure our final product is of an impressive quality.
The only risk we run is a risk of delay. We've given a sizable gap for the final delivery date of our rewards, but anything can happen. Production issues do sometimes cause the process to run longer than we like.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
