An educational center and gardens to further promote Culinaria's commitment to the community and betterment of San Antonio! Read more

About this project
The center will also provide an important educational tool in teaching community members about gardening, nutrition, and healthy living. This will benefit multiple groups, including families, high schools, universities and youth organizations. In addition to important health information, the gardens and the events held there will work to promote the culinary arts.
We need funds to buy equipment and supplies to build the gardens. In order to run a successful garden we need two roto tillers, an industrial riding yard tractor, lumber, seeds and gardening supplies, a water-saving/eco-friendly sprinkler and irrigation system and some shading devices for certain partial shade plants.
Risks and challenges
Culinaria is an independent, not-for-profit organization committed to promoting San Antonio as a premier wine and food destination, while fostering community growth and enrichment and supporting local students in culinary arts and food related aid organizations. Culinaria is a registered 501c(3) tax-exempt organization and has been in business for over 12 years. We are a close-knit team comprised of employees, interns, and volunteers. One of the challenges we foresee might be the need for more volunteers and man hours as the building and development of the gardens gets underway. We plan to tackle that challenge by implementing our volunteer and internship program, in which college credit is given for the hours. Another challenge we might come across is the marketing effort to the schools of San Antonio and surrounding areas, so that we can get them involved in the educational aspect of the center and gardens. We plan to designate a team of PR professionals, whose specific goals will be to target school districts, superintendents, and educational professionals so that they will be motivated to bring the students to the gardens as a teaching tool or even a class credit.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
