The Little Red Brick House
Your contribution is needed to help us with this project.
The Little Red Brick House has nearly 150 years of history in its walls. It’s listed with the State as a “notable” historic site, and been dated to the mid 1800's. Its construction and building materials are all consistent with “territorial” Indiana. Hand-chiseled limestone steps and lintels, and locally kiln-fired bricks date the structure to the mid 1800’s.
It is our goal to relocate, restore and repurpose this historic structure as a ticket booth and concession stand for our proposed Riverfront Amphitheater Project. The building will be relocated in the Old Lock and Dam Park along The Ohio River Scenic Byway.
We have support of the Town of Newburgh, in providing a location for the move in cooperation with the Newburgh Arts Commission. The Indiana Historical Society has granted $25,000 toward the project, and over 100 individuals have contributed as well.
We still need $19,000 to make this happen. This is a community organized, community funded project, please donate now!
Risks and challenges
This project has the highest sense of urgency. We must raise $19,000 by March 29th so that we will have matching funds from The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, (OCRA)
The structure must be moved by December 31, 2017 or we will lose our $25,000 grant.
