I am a recent RISD grad based in Atlanta, Ga working on a start-up RTW women's clothing line. My latest show was sponsored by W Hotels, Keune Haircosmetics, L.K. Bennett and LBD vodka. It was held in the living room at the W Hotel Buckead with an fabulous turn out of over 200 people.I love adding color and texture to a more classic silhouette, always in pursuit of flattering the feminine shape. My clothes are accessible and easy to wear, yet anything but ordinary.
press, awards and celebrities...
I reached out to acclaimed San Fran painter, Tobias Tovera, last year via email after falling in love with his work on multiple blogs. I had just shown in the Supima Design Competition in NY fashion week, and one of my bright yellow dresses reminded me so much of his gradients.
I wanted so much to translate the colors and movement in his paintings to clothing, so I proposed a collaboration.
I am now working on a collaborative couture dress collection with this inspiring San Francisco based painter. After six months of hard work and concept building, we got approached by a curator to show at a famed San Francisco gallery. What a dream! I hope to have 7 dresses displayed on models opening night and in the gallery for the duration of the show. Here is a sneak peak at some of Tobias' paintings I've chosen to digitally print onto fabric... www.tobiastovera.com
help us live the dream...
The San Francisco show will be held at 111 Minna Gallery on August 2nd. We have the space, the art, I'm bringing the dresses, but we still need so much more! Fashion shows have so many hidden costs: models, hair artists, makeup artists, etc. In order for the dresses to stay in the gallery for the month long exhibition, we need mannequins. . . Those can get pretty pricy.
Here is a snapshot of the first dress in progress...I hope (with your help) I can make 7, all inspired by a different one of Tobias' paintings.
we need you...

Risks and challenges
The challenges to making this trip a success would be having professional quality models and makeup/hair artists to work with. I definitely think having good models and beauty collaborators is key to a successful show.
One other challenge will be finding mannequins that fit the gallery aesthetic.
I am totally confident that the clothing and artwork will be fabulous, but fashion always comes down to the performance with all its moving parts.
All of these challenges can be overcome by having the right funding. Paying for agency models and quality hair and makeup collaborators is much easier than trying to get people to work for free.
