We're bringing back the Justseeds Organizer!
Thanks to popular demand, we're preparing a new edition of the Justseeds Organizer datebook for 2020. And we're hoping you'll be part of the process!
Radical artists help us visualize the social changes that we deeply desire. They give form to our dreams, our ideas, and our hopes. They remind us not just of the struggle, but of the inspiration that leads people to work hard for a common cause. People of conscience everywhere are joining together to resist the cruel and destructive policies being enacted against women, people of color, immigrants, reproductive freedom, gender diversity, and even the earth that we all share. We do not have the option of standing aside and watching it happen.
The 2020 Organizer will feature the socially engaged art of the Justseeds Artists’ Cooperative in a durable, colorful format with ample space for keeping track of meetings, upcoming demos, appointments, schedules and notes. As usual, we're putting out both a pocket edition (3.5" x 5", 160 pages, $15) and a planner edition (5"x8", 112 pages, $18). The Justseeds Organizers are made with tough double-thick 130# covers and durable twin-loop wire, to withstand a year of vigorous use. This handy datebook also includes a moon phase calendar and a year-at-a-glance/month-at-a-glance calendars.
The 2020 Justseeds Organizer is the tenth one since the first edition in 2010. Regrettably, we couldn't print a 2019 edition of the Organizer because of funding problems. Eberhardt Press was thrown out of our shop by a developer, and our rent tripled, which blew our budget for the project. Production of the Organizers is a huge project (for us anyway), and the budget for materials, overhead and labor is quite substantial. We just couldn't swing it.
But we got a really strong response from folx who shared our disappointment that we couldn't put out a 2019 edition. So, we started to mull over the possibility of a 2020 edition. There's certainly no shortage of excellent art from the cooperative, and we've published the Justseeds Organizer enough times to have streamlined the process. But we're a bunch of broke artists — where would the funding come from?
That's where you come in. Want to reserve a copy? Pre-order, and we'll send a Justseeds Organizer fresh from the press. Your pre-orders will make or break this fundraiser. Or would you like to give the project a bump with a donation? You can get all sorts of cool stuff in return (see photos below). These donations help guarantee that we can fully fund the project.
For the higher donation tiers, you can also get exclusive access to live broadcasts of the printing and bindery processes. You get to see us creating the Organizers as it happens.
So, do you want to see a 2020 Justseeds Organizer come out? With your contribution, we can make it happen!

About Justseeds Artists' Cooperative
Justseeds is an international collaboration of creative individuals who believe in the transformative power of personal expression in concert with collective action. We produce collective portfolios, contribute graphics to grassroots struggles for justice, work collaboratively both in and outside the co-op, build large sculptural installations in galleries, and wheatpaste on the streets—all while offering each other daily support as allies and friends.
Founded in 1998 by Josh MacPhee, Justseeds transformed into a worker-owned cooperative in 2007 – the original network being largely in place through past collaborations and friendships. We operate an online store and wholesale distribution center, as well as an active, multi-voice blog detailing current art and resistance projects around the world.

About Eberhardt Press
Each edition of the Organizer has been designed and printed at Eberhardt Press, a notorious and renowned community print shop and small publishing house in Portland, Oregon. Eberhardt Press was founded in 2005, and we've continuously published original work as well as printing hundreds of publications for diverse clients. Our books and zines focus on a range of topics such as reproductive freedom, anarcho-surrealism, literature and printing history. We also make and sell journals, notepads, cards and whatnot to help fund the operation.
We print the Organizers on a 2-color offset press and bind them on a hand-operated machine. The Organizer is printed with multiple spot inks, just as the original prints were made, to produce bright, solid colors. You can see/read posts about our printing processes at our Instagram page — scroll down a ways to see photos of the 2018 Organizer.

Risks and challenges
The Justseeds Organizer is an intensive project to produce within the limited capabilities of our equipment. It takes a lot of work that is unforgiving of mistakes. For us, it's a huge project, and a steady pace must be maintained throughout the process. And a datebook has the ultimate hard deadline — blowing it is not an option. So, it's a challenging publication to make. But we published it every year for nearly a decade, and we feel confident taking on a 2020 edition.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
