Since Walkfast was born 7 years ago, it has been maturing into a collaborative and imaginative band, weaving deeply personal stories and dynamic sounds into a unique musical style that defies categorization. The music we create has been lifting spirits and inspiring movement for years, and we want to explore a new expansion of this creative potential.
We have imagined visual interpretations of our latest musical creations--6 new music videos! The new tunes we've been crafting have led us to recruit a stand-out team of Portland artists to make these visions come alive.
This creative process has put us in touch with puppeteers, drone camera crews, dancers, and amazing visual artists.
Some of our artistic contributors include:
Ryan Obermeyer - Acclaimed visual artist / Trip The Dark Dance Company - Choreography and Performance / Steve Coker - Music video Project Manager / Mike Lindberg - Cinematography, photography, editing / Knate Carter - The Immateria / Ben Cleek - Feral Studios / Jules Engel - Jezebel Press / Plus many many more!
After four months of planning and much preparation, we are ready to take the plunge and make this amazing dream come to life!
With funding, we will shoot 6 independent music videos with a menagerie of Portland Creatives, professionally record our 3rd full length album with beautiful art work, document a ton of fun behind the scenes moments, and throw one huge gallery style release party to showcase all of the collaborators skills and businesses.
Professionally shooting a music video is extremely expensive. We have put together of team of talented contributors who BELIEVE IN THIS project enough to bring their best work for very modest pay. The funding goal for this project is the result of 4 months of negotiating, begging and borrowing to secure access to professional equipment. We were quoted the figure of $10,000 per video at one point....
We can do this! We can film and record a very beautiful story. And we can do it on a D.I.Y. budget. But we need everyone to give a little to make it happen. You will get much more back, we promise!

Risks and challenges
The greatest challenge will be successfully communicating and mindfully embracing the collaborative nature of this project. It is our intention to create a spirit of community throughout the project, at every level. Many decisions have already been made through dialogue and idea-sharing, and we intend to continue building this project as a team. This undertaking will be best if everyone is allowed creative space to shine. Fostering this welcoming environment is the biggest challenge, but is also our greatest opportunity to rise to the next level.
Each of us has experience completing creative projects as part of a team, and we have years of experience working together toward our common creative vision. We have recruited artists and collaborators who also understand and embrace our approach, and this is what will help us to achieve the common dream we share with you.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

This album tells a story of redemption, fulfillment of purpose, and of rising above our inner monsters. There are several characters in the songs who are battling (to varying degrees) with pride, greed, apathy, etc. A werewolf, an inmate, an addict, a Wall Street executive.... The album asks us if we are living for ourselves. It shares the successes that come with building something bigger than yourself. It celebrates creative fulfillment. It smiles upon the defeat of ego.
