Thanks for stopping by our Kickstarter campaign! Below you will find the story of how we met, and why this project is such an important step for us. We hope you will join us and make this project a reality!
Who is Eyes on the Shore?
Eyes on the Shore is a rock & roll band from San Francisco, California. Antrom Kury on guitar, Kayhan Golkar on bass, and Cory Tauber’s voice.
Before Eyes on the Shore formed, Antrom and Kayhan had been writing music together for over ten years. Performing under the name Ambience, their previous band gained a lot of momentum on the west coast between 2008 – 2010. The band debuted on Live 105.3, San Francisco's largest alternative music radio station. They got a great response and were immediately booked to perform BFD, the stations annual music festival at Shoreline right here in the Bay Area.
In 2010 the band released the Never Alone EP which was received very well. It charted on Alternative FM stations and landed the band several gigs, including opening for Cold War Kids, dredg and Train.
Later that year the group found themselves at a crossroads and ultimately split up. Antrom and Kayhan did not let this deter them from moving forward. With a guitar, a bass and a computer, they moved to San Francisco to develop their sound and write new material. This turned into a creative two-year period of writing, studying music production and searching for a new vocalist.
Meanwhile, Cory was living abroad in Costa Rica and touring Europe. He landed a gig at the Port Eliot festival in England and spent time traveling through Morocco and Spain soaking in the various musical influences.
After his travels, he made plans to move to the Bay Area and search for the right band to collaborate with. By chance, he responded to an ad for a vocalist that Kayhan and Antrom posted.
After the first meeting, they knew they had something special. The guys spent four months locked up in the studio working on songs and vocal arrangements.
With all new music and an inspired direction, Kayhan, Antrom and Cory are proud to present their band, Eyes on the Shore.
Our project. Record the debut EP.
So what’s next? We are very excited to share our music with the world. After spending months in the studio honing in our new sound, all of us can’t wait to hit the stage.
We decided to record five songs for an EP, each one sharing part of our story. This release will be the key to unlocking the next step in our journey, which is to get our music heard and start traveling.
All of us have a strong do-it-yourself approach with producing, recording and mixing our own music. However, our limited equipment cannot capture the sound and vision we have for these songs.
We have to hire a professional engineer to record and mix our songs. We are inviting you to join us on Kickstarter to help make this EP happen. Your donations will directly fund the cost of recording and releasing the music.
Studio time is booked! We are scheduled to record with Bay Area producer Aaron Hellam at his studio in Oakland, California. Recording begins June 2nd and will continue until June 12th. We will be documenting the whole process, so be sure to join our mailing list for updates.
We are really excited to offer some cool incentives and rewards. Every donation will receive something in return. From high resolution digital downloads to handmade silkscreen posters, we spent a lot of time conjuring up ideas to meet everyone’s donations in a fun and creative way.
Besides being part of a music recording, the reward system is the core of this whole project. We chose to approach the Kickstarter campaign as an ethical and honest way to connect with human beings - not only to fund a creative project, but to engage with our community.
So when we say join us to make this EP – we mean it! By donating to this project, you are not simply just giving us your hard earned money, you are engaging directly with an active independent group of artists, and this EP becomes a collective project.
We can do this together.
Kickstarter is an all or nothing platform, so if we don’t reach our goal in 30 days, we receive nothing, so every donation counts.
Ways to get involved:
- Donate! Your donations are the only way this project becomes a reality
- Tell your network. If you like the music and want people to hear it, let them know about our kickstarter campaign.
- Social media works. Be sure to spread the word on Facebook and Twitter. A simple post goes a long way. The more people see it, the more they will talk about it.
- Keep in touch with us. Please add us to your social network, and join our mailing list.
Thank you so much.

Risks and challenges
The mains risks associated with recording projects are meeting deadlines. Studio time is finite, but music production and creation can go on forever. Keeping a very organized schedule, while maintaining a creative low stress environment is essential. Given our collective experience, we are up for the challenge.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
