The CCTV network is active. The laser tripwires installed. The alarms are set. The vault door is heavily upgraded and your bank staff are well equipped. To others, it’s a security nightmare that’s nigh impossible to breach. To you, however, it’s the stage for the Perfect Crime.
We (Grublin Games: Cornish Smuggler, Waggle Dance, Terralith) are after your support to kickstart an asymmetrical, modern day, tower defence style bank robbery game with fast setup, hidden information, tons of tension, and is based on real life and filmic heists: Perfect Crime.
In Perfect Crime you play either as the security focused bank or as a crew of robbers trying to break into the Vault to steal the loot. As the bank, you'll build your bank, employ staff, assign guards to patrol routes, expand your bank and install security. Your goal is to construct an impregnable fortress to keep the valuables in your vault safe.
As the robber, you'll employ crew and equip them with the tools and plans they need to bypass, crack, expose, evade and generally defeat measures that the bank has put in place to thwart you. As you move through the bank your crew will generate suspicion which the bank will use to activate guards, upgrade their systems and most importantly, trigger alarms to call the Police. You will need find ways to bypass any installed security, but doing so will generate Evidence which determines the strength of the Police response.
Perfect Crime is a game for 2-5 players, takes ~90 minutes to play and can be played in co-op (all the robbers working together against the bank), semi co-op (some of the robbers working together to rob the bank) or full competitive (kind of working together, but with the threat of doublecrossing each other) modes.

##Important Caveat## Although we have essentially been learning how to rob banks these last two years, Perfect Crime is NOT a game teaching you how to rob a bank!
“Perfect Crime is a brilliant game” - Erin: The Boardroom Podcast
“The heist itself is wonderfully tense. My favourite aspect was that moving slowly raised suspicion (why are those bank employees just hanging around?). This meant that careful movement to avoid a guard can often give the bank player more power to stop you" - Steve: Polyhedron Collider
Difficult Decisions: Vicariously robbing banks is fun...and engaging! Same goes for defending them. We don't want a game with runaway leaders or a game where you just go through the motions following an obvious optimum strategy - Perfect Crime is a game where you will be forced to make difficult choices and where it's impossible to sit on the sidelines. If you want a game that will give you a story you can tell others the next day - then this is the one for you.
“Perfect Crime will hit that spot of having a narrative every time you play a session” - Steveland: Angel of Dice
Total Realism: Everything you can do in this game is something that either happens in a real life bank robbery or in a film about bank robberies. Want to pull off something similar to the recent diamond heist in Hatton Gardens? Reckon you've watched Heat enough times to know how to control a lobby full of customers, then this is the game for you. Perfect Crime captures the audacity, creativity and planning that heists are all about.
"Fully captures the feeling of let’s go rob a bank" - Drew: The Boardroom Podcast
Super Accessible: Over the 3 years that Grublin has been publishing games, we've learnt an incredible amount and have put all of our experience into making Perfect Crime as quick and easy to play as possible. What we've got is a game which has a blinding fast setup, fast turns (very little player downtime) and doesn't swamp players with too much information (no analysis paralysis). We are enthusiasts first, publishers second - _all_ of this experience has gone into Perfect Crime =)
“Grublin has established themselves as the Cornish equivalent of the Days of Wonder think tank with their measured release structure and dedication to cool looking titles offering accessibility and fun” - Mike Who Dares Rolls
Incredible artwork! Working with the supremely talented Nick Ramio (Illustration) and Ian Whitford (Art Direction, Graphic Design), we're not going for a game that looks pretty, but one that looks fascinating. We want to make a game where the story you tell the next day of what happened in the game is as important as playing the game itself and to do that, all the illustration needs to be jam packed full of character and detail. The style we've chosen is 'gritty, real, noir and tech' - think 'modern day Gotham' and you won't be far off. Want to be illustrated by Nick as one of the characters in the game? Check out the list of open character illustrations !!!HERE!!!
Your Input Matters! We firmly believe that by opening up the game design process, we make better games and that's exactly what we're doing with Perfect Crime. This isn't a completely finished game that you just pay for and forget about because you don't have any input (well you can, but we'd prefer to hear what you think as well ;), we've taken Perfect Crime about 90% of the way and want to do that last 10% with you guys. We're are an indie publisher, can.not. make this game without your help and are very proud of it - this is a real opportunity to get involved with the design of this game and _that_ is what we feel Kickstarter should be all about.

Assuming everything runs according to plan, we're going to be shipping Perfect Crime in October to get to you in November this year. There's a lot that can happen during the production, but we do have a good amount of experience in this now (every campaign we've run has been delivered either on, or ahead of time) and are fully confident that you'll be receiving your copy of Perfect Crime bang on time.
Risks and challenges
As with any project, the main risk that exists is that we will experience delays in getting Perfect Crime to you when we plan to. Packages occasionally 'disappear' and events outside of our control are always a possibility. However, our team has proven experience of not only dealing with such events, but overcoming them - as shown by our previous campaigns.
We have contingency built into the production costing and feel very confident that we will be able to deal with any problems that may arise.
We will do everything that we can to mitigate any problems and we will keep you informed every step of the way. Communication is a key component of any Kickstarter, so we will be posting regular updates throughout the campaign and will notify you immediately if any problems arise.
We will try everything that we can to produce the best game we can, as quickly as we can.
If you have any questions about any aspect of this project then please post in the FAQ section and we will get back to you as soon as possible!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
