Over the last six months, we have been organizing an album of hymns, re-written hymns, and original songs written by local Seattle musicians. That They May Live is a collaborative music project involving Reformed University Fellowship at the University of Washington (RUF-UW), Green Lake Presbyterian Church, and Grace Church Seattle. One of our main goals is to share some of the music that has developed in Seattle over the last few years. This album is meant to be a celebration of the many gifts and talents that the Lord has blessed these communities with, and our hope is that it will serve to build and strengthen the connections between students and local churches. Over 50 people from these three music communities are involved with the production of this album.
The album is called "That They May Live." This references Ezekiel 37 when the Lord breathes life into the valley of dry bones and they become walking, talking beings. We love this imagery because it communicates so beautifully the power of the Gospel to transform hearts and to bring life and hope into places of death and despair. This is a message of hope that we believe our campus and city desperately need to hear.
For this reason, we'd like to be able to gift this album to students, churches, and friends in other communities. This Kickstarter is a way to raise funds for recording and CD printing costs so that we will be able to freely give copies away. Please consider supporting the album so that this project can be a ministry and a gift to the city.
