LARRY HAGMAN Joined the STARCK PROJECT on 1310 The Ticket Sports Radio to talk STARCK CLUB.
The Musers morning show of 1310 The Ticket had us on their live broadcast today to talk about the STARCK PROJECT. Larry Hagman joined us over the phone to share a few memories he has of the STARCK CLUB. We're posting the link to access the in-studio video we recorded while on the show.
Keep pushing the KICKSTARTER link out to all of your network. We want to reach 333 Backers by the end of the campaign which closes at 12 PM (noon) CST on Thursday, October 25th. Now is the time to rally behind us. You have been so generous with your contributions and we want to share the best film possible. You're helping us reach our goals.

OCTOBER 22nd WE MET OUR GOAL! Please don't stop....
WOW! We are so grateful for all of your support and love. What a month but we aren't finished yet. We want more! More backers and more connections to help us break 333 backers.
We've added a $1 level just to help those of you who want to support and can't right now to join the family. Nothing is too small, it all helps! Please pass the word! Your backing is treated just like the $5,000 backer as far as Kickstarter and we are concerned. We LOVE you all!
This weekend we are trying to secure final interviews with Grace Jones in New York and Owen Wilson in Dallas. Any leads to either would be appreciated! I will be in NYC for the Grace Jones concert and our Dallas team will be at the Opening of the PARK in D.
We still need you!!!!
WHAT WE NEED:
The STARCK PROJECT is looking to raise $40,000 to use as finishing funds in acquiring music licensing for our documentary. We have identified up to 30 tracks that we desire to be a part of the film. The good news is that with our current budget 7 tracks(now 10) have already been confirmed with more in the pipeline. In total, we anticipate 40 - 45 tracks and music cues to complement the visual journey of the 1980s through the lens of the STARCK CLUB. To do this, archival license fees are required along with music licensing rights. The production team calculated a need of $80,000 just to cover the music licensing costs. We are asking our friends, family, supporters and fans to help provide $40,000 of this expense.
6 Days Left: Oct. 18, 2012 ·
Right now, with 6 days left to reach our goal, we have 237 spectacular BACKERS and have $29,375 pledged. THANK YOU!!!
This is the rally cry. We need everyone’s help to hit our targeted goal. If you have contributed, a heart felt thank you and welcome aboard…if you have not contributed, what’s the deal? No really, even just $5 goes a long way with this campaign. If you cannot contribute $5, please, just share our Kickstarter link on every social media page you have and to all your contacts.
OCTOBER 16, 2012 UPDATE: 3:36PM
Over 50% and it feels so good! Don't stop, we won't! Added levels, ALEX VICKERS Matching Grant and FILMMATTERS; and more people sign on to spread the word! You can too!
Over 50% of our goal and 196 backers with 8 days to go! Thank you so much! If we needed you before, we really need you now! Last week we held test editorial screenings and the film is getting rave results. Especially the MUSIC! Help us make this film your musical experience of the 80s!
To thank you for your support we've come up with a couple of new Backer Levels. Actually an angel walked into our offices yesterday, slapped down a check and put out a Challenge Grant in ALEX VICKERS name, so you get the chance to double your backing of the film and get twice the benefits!
Here are the details. To the first 2 people who back us at the $500 MEET AND GREET level you will automatically be moved up the the $1,000 SPONSOR level and can choose either to accept the benefits of SPONSOR or FILMMATTERS benefits. ***Please note that an earlier posting mistakenly referred to upgrading to "TITLE" SPONSOR instead of the $1,000 SPONSOR level. It is the $1,000 SPONSOR level. Thanks for your understanding!)
SPONSOR - Your name or company name on the SPONSOR slide of the closing crawl and recognition on promotional content put out online by the filmmakers along with the perks from the MEET AND GREET, TABLE SERVICE, VIP ACCESS, MOVIE TICKET, CONCERT TICKET and COVER CHARGE.
FILMMATTERS - FilmMatters is a panel and film series programmed to ENGAGE, EDUCATE, and INSPIRE an audience to support film as a means to facilitate social action. You will be recognized as a sponsor, allowed access with 7 guests to a table at the luncheon featuring a moderated conversation by Michael Cain (Sundance Award Winner - TV JUNKIE) with LARRY HAGMAN (TV's DALLAS) and BRIGID McCONVILLE (Director - White Ribbon Alliance). You will be introduced to Actor Larry Hagman and British Philanthropist Brigid McConville along with a photo opportunity.
Three panels will follow the luncheon hosted on Saturday, November 3rd in Dallas, TX which you and your guests will have access. This year's theme is the Global Clean Water Crisis. Message us for more details.
Special thanks to Polyphonic Spree, Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies(MAPS), Lorenzo Hagerty and Endeavor Cinema for blasting our campaign out to your followers!
Also thank you to the supporters since our last blast! We love you!

RETRO VHS (JUST UPDATED):
The new $25 VHS level has just been added for all you lovers of vintage things. The cover art will be based on the original STARCK VHS Cover as an homage to the original designs seen below...
WHY WE ARE HERE:
The STARCK PROJECT team is excited to share a sneak peak into our upcoming documentary. What began as a documentary aiming at interviewing 30-50 key players has grown into the story of a generation with over 120 interviews to date of seminal 80s figures. The film is scheduled to be completed by year end, 2012. We are looking to the Kickstarter family to secure the required funding to maximize our already impressive soundtrack potential. As a group we have supported many campaigns on Kickstarter and love the community. Please make sure to view our video and we thank you for taking the time to stop by. Thank you for your contribution and we look forward to fulfilling each and every incentive level for our loyal supporters and our new found friends and fans. Welcome to the STARCK PROJECT family!
HOW WE PLAN TO GET IT DONE:
The founder of Sire Records Seymour Stein is graciously working with Risa Morley, Andy Paley and the filmmaking team to ensure the proper soundtrack is set into motion for this film. Producer and music supervisor, Wade Randolph Hampton (GROOVE), and his team of music coordinators are working tirelessly to bring you the best in music along with securing interviews from 80s bands that once graced the STARCK CLUB stage and frequented the hottest nightspot in the world during the 1980s (Book Of Love, New Order, Talking Heads, Tom Tom Club, Devo and more).
Here is another sneak peak into a story from former Starck Club waitress, Suzi Pittman, about her run in with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Password: rhcp
MORE ABOUT THE FILM:
Award-winning director Michael Cain (TV JUNKIE), partners with award-winning behind-the-scenes director Miles Hargove (HARRY POTTER, FAST AND FURIOUS, VAN HELSING) to direct the STARCK PROJECT. The STARCK PROJECT will examine the 80s through the lens of the STARCK CLUB in Dallas, Texas. The STARCK CLUB embodied the excess-fueled ethos of the time and achieved world-wide international appeal. The goal is to produce an award-winning documentary as we did with our previous film TV JUNKIE. The film was awarded a Special Jury Prize at Sundance 2006 and was part of HBO’s Addiction Series which received the Governor's Award, at the Emmy® Awards.
The Directors are supported by a great team of Producers, Dennis Bishop (DEXTER, TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL) and Melina McKinnon (BLUE OCTOBER: ARGUE WITH A TREE, BOWLING FOR SOUP: LIVE AND VERY ATTRACTIVE) along with Line Producer, Trammell Hancock (Location Manager - ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT CHEERLEADER). The STARCK PROJECT will focus on the STARCK CLUB as a microcosm of the 1980s. Music, fashion, politics, culture, and designer drugs each played a role in the drama which made STARCK CLUB the hegemonic nightspot of the 1980s.
The 1980s was an era with many faces... and a lot of hairspray. The Russo-American Cold War instilled fear into the hearts of millions and dominated the world of geopolitics. New trends began to emerge making conservative heads turn. Only the zoot suit of the 1920s held a candle to the wildness in fashion that erupted and made the Mohawk seem mundane. Terms like “Rap” and “New Wave” were cemented into the minds of Generation X as Reagan and his Contras dominated headlines. Michael Jackson and Madonna’s fans watched their videos in awe on the new cable powerhouse MTV. Bill Murray was Ghost Busting while Flock of Seagulls shocked the United States with outlandish hair.
And there in the middle of this vast land was Dallas often called The Belt Buckle of The Bible Belt. While most of Texas looked inwards, Dallas opened one eye towards New York and its European counterparts across the pond. The state’s second largest city had become the cosmopolitan capital of the south, as well as home to the largest fashion show in the world. Neiman Marcus provided armor for the fashion army, real estate boomed, and millionaires were made. The American Dream seemed to be at its zenith.
Dallas was the epicenter for 1980s counterculture. The heartbeat of the city was the STARCK CLUB – Shangri-La for the rich, the famous, the uber hip: movie stars, rock stars, sports celebrities, Dallas debutantes, politicians – and anyone else who had the attitude and duds to convince the phalanx at the front door to let them pass. The then legal drug, MDMA or “Ecstasy”, was adding euphoric fuel to the fire. STARCK was the earthquake that would shake the world with the emergence of the new progressive subculture that would soon be known from Los Angeles to Detroit to London to Ibiza as Rave.
Paul Oakenfold returned to the former STARCK CLUB, now ZOUK, on 4.20, 2012 to relive the ecstasy of his days spinning at the STARCK CLUB. The Starck Live music tour is in the works to combine DJs with screenings around the world. Below is the promotional video from Paul's return to Dallas.

We'll see you behind the red velvet ropes!!!
QUESTIONS WE GET!
Can I increase my pledge once it’s been made?
YES! Once you donate to our campaign, you may want to change your incentive reward to a different one, or increase your pledge amount. To do so, go to Kickstarter and sign in. If you go to our campaign page, the green “Back This Project” button has been replaced with a blue “Manage Your Donation” button. Click it and you can enter a new amount, or choose a new incentive.
What happens if all the money isn’t raised in time? Unfortunately, NOTHING. If our entire $20k goal isn’t met before the deadline, no money changes hands and no movie is made. We know you won't let this happen!
Can we exceed the goal? YES! What an amazing problem to have. Kickstarter will allow as much money as is given before the deadline. Even though $40k is already a lot of money, it is still bargain-basement for what we are trying to do, and more money would mean less begging, borrowing and stealing.
How do you contact us? Glad you asked! You can contact us directly at Info@1881productions.com. We check it. We will get back to you. We promise!
Other ways to help: Spread the word! Tell everyone you know how awesome this project is. Like us on Facebook!
Risks and challenges
The film is created largely with interviews, archival photos, video and music clips. Often these rights are complicated and require seasoned professionals to untangle these legal obstacles. Our team produced TV Junkie which was created out of 3000 hours of footage. We are prepared to handle clearances for our footage and our music team is led by music legend Seymour Stein and Risa Morley of Sire Records. They understand the complexities we need to overcome.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
