Cartoonists Nomi Kane, Jen Vaughn and Caitlin M. are proud to present "Lies Grown-ups Told Me", a collection of short comics about the improbable and outrageous things we believed until we were old enough to realize their absurdity. If you ever thought there was a Tooth Fairy*, or that your face would stay that way, or that Mountain Dew was really Kangaroo piss, this book is for you. We're putting out a call for submissions to the incredibly talented students, alumni, faculty and visiting artists of our beloved Center for Cartoon Studies. As editors, we'll review and jury submissions to come up with the best most cohesive 60ish page anthology we can muster. We're hoping to release "Lies Grown-ups Told Me" in September, just in time for the 2011 Small Press Expo. "That sounds great and all but, where do I come in?" you might be asking, well, family, friends, comics enthusiasts and curious strangers, we need to raise $1000.00 in order to print this gem and cover table space at SPX, and we're poor cartoonists so we need your help! THAT'S NOT ALL, to show our deep appreciation for your support, we're offering tons of excellent prizes! Look at the right-hand side of your screen and see for yourself.
*Sorry if we just spilled the beans about the Tooth Fairy.
**If we manage to overshoot our funding goal, which would be incredibly awesome, we'll use the additional funding to increase the print run and help cover transportation costs to and from the convention. Thanks again, everyone!
