About this project
We're arranging, performing, recording, and producing a fan-selected album of some of the best music from video games and anime!
As a motley assortment of talented and passionate musicians, we are fully prepared to use as many or as few instruments as necessary to make the best possible video game and anime music covers. With drums, bass, guitars, piano, saxophone, violin, cello, electric cello, flute, and vocalists, we have plenty of options to guarantee our recordings will be a completely unique -- and optimally awesome -- take on your favorite anime and video game tunes! Oh, and we've done a few EPs already as well as several live performances.
All that's left is to choose the music for this new album. That's where YOU come in.
Each backer will have the opportunity to vote on the music selections. For every dollar you pledge, you get 1 vote, up to a maximum of 100 votes per person. That means if you give us $50, we'll count your vote 50 times.
For variety, we’ve created three categories of music for you to vote on. The final album will be a total of 8 tracks compiled by taking the highest-voted song group in each category.
Here is what you will be voting on!
Which group of kickass tracks would you like to see on the album?
- Our Mega Man Medley (music from Mega Man 2, 3, & 9)
- "Frog's Theme" from Chrono Trigger
- "The Man with the Machine Gun" from Final Fantasy VIII
- An all-new arrangement of Final Fantasy battle themes
- An all-new medley of Mega Man themes (from Mega Man 2, 3, & 5)
- "Go Dark" from Darker Than Black
- "The Moon Theme" from DuckTales
- "Chemical Plant" from Sonic the Hedgehog 2
- "Jungle Theme" from Contra
Which group of nostalg-tastic tunes would you like to see on the album?
- Our Super Mario Bros. Medley
- "Kraid" from Metroid
- The opening theme from Sailor Moon
- "Birth of the People" from Actraiser
- "The Egg and You" from Cowboy Bebop
- "Onett Theme" from Earthbound
- An all-new medley of themes from Zelda
- "Robe des Champs" from Evangelion 2.0
- "Saving the Dam" from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Which group of, shall we say, "rainy day" songs would you like to see on the album?
- "Voices" from Macross Plus
- "Tina's Theme" from Final Fantasy VI
- "Lilium" from Elfen Lied
- "Brothers" from Fullmetal Alchemist
- "Sora" from the Escaflowne movie
- "Sadness and Sorrow" from Naruto
You'll have noticed that a few of the choices involve new medleys. If one of those is chosen, we'll ask for your input on what to include. So what are you waiting for; help us put this album together already!
After pledging, we will send you a link and a unique access code for you to cast your vote. We'll track how much you pledged and (with the help of a fancy spreadsheet and some code) count your vote the proper number of times.
We'll also post daily (starting on 6/18/12) the current votes both here and on our website so you can see what people are choosing!
Outlined to the right, but a picture's worth a thousand words, right? Here are a few more details on the goodies you can get in addition to voting on the track list and getting a copy of the end result:

$125 & up / The new item at this level is a personal thank you note from our fearless leader, Blair Baker. You might not think this is all that cool, but her random doodles tend to look like this:
$175 & up / An 8.5" x 11" archival quality print of our comic's cover art, sans text. You can totally frame it and put it up on your wall.
Tier 13 & 14 / These levels have rewards in a specific location: San Francisco, CA, USA. Sadly, we don't have transporters yet, so you'll need to figure out another way to travel if you're not a local. (Is there a Kickstarter for inventing a transporter yet? It would be SUPER useful.)
And with that, we at Team Hideo say: help us put this album together already! ^_^

This updates live, so it will always reflect the current voting info.
We pay to license each piece from the rights holders, so it's 110% legit. It's actually a pretty easy process for cover songs via a service called Limelight:
