This is a story of 6 Best friends who set out together to live a life of passion. We work, we study, we love, we hustle. But at the end of the day, and every weekend, we carry out a dream that we’ve all had since we were children: to be musicians. It is never easy. It is always thrilling. And it is often humbling. But most importantly, it consistently reminds us why we are ABLE to work, study, love, and hustle. Creating music fills the soul with such a unique and expressive gratification, that it is impossible to conceive of ever living a life that does not facilitate getting to experience this passion each and every day. Most people look at the work we do as a sacrifice. But for us, we have never made a “sacrifice” if it was for the good of the band. It was and always will be the only option.
So after a lifetime of being on our own individual musical journeys, and nearing 3 years together, Farraday has decided that it is time to fulfill what each of us, until now, has only dreamed of achieving: To write and record a full-length album. Perhaps this may not seem like a massive goal- Lots of bands write and record full-length albums all the time. But for us, it is something special, and a benchmark in the marathon that is pursuing a life in loving what you do. We have all been involved in releasing music over the years in our various projects- in the form of singles, or short EP albums…But to release a full-length is something none of us has ever been in a position to create.
The challenges that come with creating a full-length album are seemingly endless. It takes an incredible amount of time to conceive, to write, to re-write, to produce, and to record- and without the financial support of a record label- an insurmountable amount of money. These roadblocks have always stood in our way in the past. It seemed like a nearly impossible task.
But when you’re a part of something great, you can feel it in your soul. Over these years together, we finally feel like the 6 of us have come together to create the group that is MEANT to make this dream of a full-length album become a reality. Farraday’s creative process is unlike anything we have ever seen or been a part of, and it feels like we owe it to our fans, our friends, our families, and to ourselves to finally create the album that has brought us all along this journey. Songs about you, songs about each other, songs about love and love loss- songs about LIFE. We have the material. We have the songs. We have the producer. And most importantly, we have the PASSION.
ALL WE NEED IS YOUR HELP.
This project is a collaboration of minds and souls, to inspire all of us to continue to fight the good fight. We humbly ask for any donation you’d be willing to give- big or small- to help us fulfill this life-long goal of ours. Nothing we have done in music has ever been possible without the help, love, and support of the people around us. This album will be the ultimate testament to this dedication.
To make this fun and interesting, we have developed a list of TONS of diverse, crazy, silly, and practical rewards for each donation price-point, that will not only help us fund this album, but bring us closer together with each person who helps us achieve this goal. Thank you for reading, supporting, watching, listening, and most importantly: BELIEVING. We love you.
Risks and challenges
There are lots of risks, challenges, and unknowns when it comes to creating an album. From figuring out what songs to record, to scheduling studio time, tweaking musical parts and lyrics, coming up with enough funding, hiring a great producer, and mixing and mastering the final product. One way to try to minimize the amount of risk you are subjected to when undertaking such a large project such as writing a full-length album, is by signing on with a producer you know and trust. It is important that this producer will do a great job with your music, respect your budget and schedule, and truly believe in the project you’re creating together.
This is why we have decided to record this album with Nick Scalise of Scalise Studios. Nick has had the unique experience of being on both sides of the board, as both a producer as well as a musician. In his tenure in the music industry, he has written with producers The Runners (Rick Ross, Justin Bieber, Rihanna) and Brian Lee (Lady Gaga, Owl City, Carly Rae Jepsen), produced a top 100 record on the German top-100 charts, worked with Producer Mike Green (Paramore, Good Charlotte, All Time Low) and Roy Hamilton (Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, R. Kelly), and as a musican, signed to Fueled By Ramen with his band October Fall, touring with Fall Out Boy, All American Rejects, Paramore, The Jonas Brothers, and many more. Currently, Nick has a new project he performs in and produces called Best Friends, who are managed by Redlight Management (311, Alicia Keys, Faith Hill) and Tom Windish (Fost the People, Gotye, Justice, M83) is his agent. Needless to say, Nick has nothing short of an endless list of experience and know-how in the industry that he can apply to making this Farraday record the absolute best it can be. As a personal friend of ours, we could not be more excited to be teaming up with such a reliable and professional producer.
It is important to note that while we have set our goal at $7500 to be raised, that is only a portion of the costs that Farraday will be faced with in the creation of this album. In addition to recording, Farraday will be responsible to fund the artwork, mastering, printing, packaging, dissemination, and marketing associated with getting this album to as many ears as possible. While we all work full-time jobs in our “real lives”, we also work very hard within the band to play shows and sell as much merchandise as possible so that we can shoulder a large portion of the costs of making these dreams come true. So while $7500 is only a portion of the funding needed to make this album a reality, we want you to know that we are putting in as much money, time, and effort as we possibly can as well on our end.
Based on our schedule, we will be recording 3 songs at a time in their entirety, and then going back and recording the next set, and so-on. This will allow us to begin this project as soon as March 2013, so that we can really aim to complete the full album and have everything out to our backers by August 2013. We know it is a huge undertaking to record a full album while working full-time jobs and being in a full-time band, but it’s time to make these dreams become a reality. From the bottom of our hearts, we could not be more grateful to every one of you who donates, shares, and supports this project. Thank you!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
