Traditional backpacks are no fun when skiing!
They push you forward on the chairlift and are awkward on the slopes.
Wouldn't it be awesome if you could...
- Shed an extra layer when the weather changes.
- Pack a sandwich that won’t get squished.
- Take along a warm drink or Gatorade.
- Be completely prepared without bulging pockets!
But I never could.
It is the ONLY BACKPACK designed to make RESORT SKIING more fun!
I was confident we could solve the chairlift problem. But when we created LiftRider we were totally surprised by something else...
We created a backpack that feels like wearing nothing at all. You don’t even notice you have it on!
And that changes everything...
Now you can be hydrated and completely prepared without any of the negatives of wearing a traditional backpack.
LiftRider’s ultra low-profile design lets you sit back and relax on the chairlift.
It organizes the items you wish to carry on a normal ski day, and stows extra layers without losing its shape.
The pack is perfectly balanced so you completely forget you are wearing it.
“Love LiftRider - it is MUCH better than anything else I have used for resort skiing! THANKS!” -- Reagan W, Fort Worth TX
Relax on the Chairlift
LiftRider’s wide low-profile bottom compartment is super thin. Even with a jacket and a fleece inside and 2 litres of water in the bladder you can sit back comfortably.
Like riding with nothing at all
LiftRider hugs your body and distributes the weight so evenly that you don't notice it is there at all.
“What surprised me more than anything with LiftRider is that I forget I am wearing a pack. It is so perfectly balanced. The hydration bladder is transverse right at my center of gravity. The other weight is perfectly distributed across my back. It hugs my body. Never sways from side to side like my old pack. AWESOME!” -- Jenn A
Lift-safe breakaway design
Packs that get caught on the chairlift are dangerous. LiftRider's sleek design has no external webbing or loops to get caught. But if it does somehow get caught, LiftRider is designed to breakaway.
“Works great- really comfortable - effortless in use and feel. I forget I have it on. I gave a sales pitch to a couple lifties at Killington when they asked me to take it off before getting on the chair. They let me wear it at the end of my presentation!” -- Kip W, Newburyport MA
“Got mine last week and we're inseparable. I had stopped wearing backpacks after several reports of skiers trapped in chairs when the loose straps got caught in the chairs. The tapered lower part works as advertised, allowing me to sit normally instead of on the edge of the chair. With the magnetic strap holder, no more flopping straps. I love it.” -- Louis Botta
Staying hydrated = Fresh legs all day
It is incredible how fast you get parched at altitude in dry air when exercising. Dehydration is the number one cause of muscle fatigue and cramping. You will be amazed at how much longer your legs last with a drink between runs.
Quick connect low profile bladder
LiftRider makes staying hydrated so easy and comfortable. The bladder sits low and transverse right at your center of gravity. It is baffled like an air mattress to stay flat and prevent sloshing. Even with two litres you don’t feel it is there. It has a big top opening for easy cleaning. And a quick disconnect for easy removal. The production version will also have a twist cap for easy filling in the lodge.
Don’t suck ice
The hose and bite valve are thermally insulated. And the bite valve is housed in an insulated compartment integrated into the shoulder strap to prevent freezing.
Insulated phone garage
Cold kills phone batteries quickly. LiftRider's insulated phone garage keeps your phone warm and working all day. There is a special compartment for power bank charger (charger not included) or a GPS tracker too.
No squished sandwich
LiftRider’s upper compartment is built like a professional camera bag. It is padded and sits above the back of the chair so your lunch won’t get squished. Adjustable dividers keep items from shifting. LiftRider is the only ski backpack in the world that'll keep your banana from getting bruised!
No more digging!
“I used to hate digging around in my Camelbak to find the lipbalm. With LiftRider everything is so organized and easy to get to” -- Mark L, Boulder, CO
Skiers told us they like to carry a hot thermos, energy drinks, Gatorade. LiftRider has two side compartments perfectly designed to carry a drink or a snack. They are positioned away from your spine in case you fall. And they are on the outside of your back so you don’t feel it on the chair.
Lens safe for goggles too
The side pockets are also lined with soft lens-safe microfiber. Perfect for your goggles.
Never too hot or too cold
Am I going to be too hot? Hmm, might get cold later. I hate having to decide in the morning what to wear all day. One or two layers pack perfectly flat in LiftRider’s lower compartment. Feel free to bring and shed that extra layer whenever you want. No more early morning decisions and late afternoon laments.
Handy glove hooks
Stashing gloves when using the phone or in the bathroom can often be a pain. Just hang them on LiftRider’s easy-on, easy-off glove hooks.
Handy helmet carry
When heading to the car or to lunch, attach your helmet to our special helmet loop, to keep it out of the way and secure.
Convenient shoulder strap pocket
The shoulder strap pocket is perfect for keeping one or two items handy. We’ve used it for the electronic lift pass, vape pens, energy bars, and phones. You can thread a charge cable from a power bank in the phone garage to charge a phone in shoulder pocket. Fits up to 5 inch phone.
Push button strap adjustment - insanely cool
We invented a new way of adjusting your shoulder straps.
No more reaching down to find the buckle. No more fumbling with mittens. Just push the button and the strap releases. Pull to tighten. The loose ends snap in place with magnets. No straps flapping behind you.
“The straps are awesome! The release system and magnets are genius.” -- Raj M, Charlotte, NC
Glove friendly one flick waist buckle
Don't fumble with your waist buckle when wearing gloves. Flick to undo waist strap. Just get the ends close and they click together magnetically. Removable if you prefer no waist strap.
Adjustable to fit you perfectly
LiftRider is adjustable to fit any size person from 5’4” to 6’5”. The shoulder straps connect with snaps. Clever because you can adjust where you set the snaps so LiftRider fits you perfectly.
We manufactured 100 production prototypes of LiftRider for testing this season. The feedback has been super!
“I am VERY impressed with this company. The bag arrived today, looks great! Thanks, Sani! Now that I've used it for a week, I love it! Very well designed and made, and the water system is simple and foolproof. Good pockets, zippers.” -- Rich S, Newton MA
“Got my Liftrider in early Feb. First impressions, color, design and quality better than expected. Using it now in Utah! Works great. Very ergonomic on lifts! The straps are awesome! The release system and magnets are genius. Carry a mid layer in the big pocket in back, bottle of Gatorade in side compartment and all other stuff in top compartment including food. Some guys asked me about, I said works great. Nothing hanging out or getting caught. People asked about center of gravity. I said it is very ergonomic on lift and while riding did not notice it at all. You need some stickers! Could have passed a bunch out for you!” -- Raj M, Charlotte NC

“Freshies? Bah. I'm more excited to try out the new pack. Just arrived. By far the most thoughtfully designed and built pack I've ever owned. I'll report back after cruising Kirkwood's deeps this weekend... Thanks guys!” -- Harrison A, Berkeley CA
“Wore mine for the first time yesterday. Better than expected. Finally a true everyday rider pack. Comfortable, and a sincerely ingenious design. My buddy is getting one after taking it for a couple runs! If you ride on a lift, you need this pack!” - Frank C, Bangor PA
“It is actually more comfortable to sit in a ski lift chair with it on, or any stiff back chair for that matter, than without, as long as there are no hard bulky contents. It doesn't make you lean forward on the ski lift like a conventional backpack.” -- Jeffrey C, Brentwood CA
“Got mine. Its awesome. Better than advertised. Really smart design. Going to get another!” -- Dave D, Fairfield CT
" I know you designed this with the go-hard on the mountain person in mind, but I am really excited as a Mom to use this pack. I am up on the mountain with my 2 kids all the time and if I have those bars and oranges and water handy then we just keep having fun instead of making it back to the lodge and taking everything off. If you are loading 3 people on the lift, especially young ones, you cannot be taking off your backpack and holding it too." -- Lisa G
“We live in a world of solutions in search of a problem, but the new LiftRider pack is that rarity, an actual solution for a problem. Yes, riding a chairlift with a backpack can be problematic and even, as we recently witnessed at Arapahoe Basin, life-threatening. The LiftRider pack is an all-new design. … Welcome LiftRider. Before I even got on the lift, I could tell that much thought had gone into its design.” Read entire review here.

Farhad and I have been good friends since we met in college in 1982. Farhad’s day job is a software developer, and I do a number of things including chip design and software development. One thing we have in common is that we love skiing. And we are really enjoying working on this fun little project together!
The best part for me has been getting to know so many people this season who have bought and tested our prototypes. I can’t tell you how awesome it makes me feel to hear from a user that loves LiftRider. Fun!
For less than the price of a lift ticket LiftRider is guaranteed to make your whole ski day 10 times more fun!

Risks and challenges
We manufactured 100 LiftRiders this season. Our factory did an amazing job of getting the 100 packs made on very short notice. The feedback from skiers and boarders has been fantastic.
Our factory is eagerly waiting for us to show them the minor design improvements we are making based on feedback and get a firm quantity to start production for next season. They are prepared to make as many as 5,000 packs if needed in 60 days. Therefore we should be able to deliver our commitment of delivering packs to you in early November before ski season starts with time to spare.
The pictures in this Kickstarter are of our production prototypes. Color’s for our production run will be selected by Kickstarter backers by vote. We will incorporate improvements to the production prototype based on feedback we have received.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
