Off World the Board Game
Welcome to a reality where mankind has reached the stars and where nothing is impossible. So long as it's... profitable for your corporation! In Off World, you take control of one of world's top corporations. They have absolute power and were the key players in the downfall of Earth. The planet's been stripped of its riches and has reached a critical point. This the the moment where we reach for the stars to explore, expand, exploit and exterminate.Your success will be measured not just in hard cash but most of all how successful your space colonies are.
Off World is a 4X game (explore, exploit, expand, exterminate), where the last 'X' has a high risk of being very expensive. Plan your moves well, as the competition has no mercy. The game is designed for 1 to 6 players*, with the solo mode being an engrossing experience in itself. Unique, exciting, pure and rewarding.
*The base game can be played with 4 players, but we're hoping to unlock stretch goals that allows the game to be played with 5 or 6 players.
Off World offers intense play, with its length and difficulty determined by the players themselves. The game has been in development for over two years, and it's now thoroughly tested and balanced. It introduces new and interesting mechanics, as the reviews below explain. Off World is a game that's dynamic and easy to learn, without the need to reference the manual during play. All necessary rules crucial to the game are always in the palm of your hand. Literally. The Amero cards will explain all rules needed. But to help you in your first games we will provide a quick reference sheet. Here you will find a synopsis of all of the basic rules.
If you enjoy science fiction, making meaningful decisions on a grand scale, space exploration, tactical use of mercenary forces, you'll love Off World. If the 4X genre has never been on your radar, this game will probably change that forever!
By supporting Off World on Kickstarter, you'll receive all unlocked stretch goals for free for each base pledge and gain a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to design some of the game components! Yup, you read that right!
The idea of this campaign is to allow all backers to have an actual impact on the look and feel of extra pieces. During the campaign we'll run special events that allow you, the backers, to take part in the design process.
Help us to create content and you'll receive a game unlike any other!
Take control of one of the major global corporations running the devastated, polluted Earth. Following a technological breakthrough that enabled interstellar flight for distances up to a dozen light years, each corporation invested unimaginable sums into private space fleets that launched exploration missions into the nearest star systems.
You won't win by accumulating more money than the competition, but by exploring space, building colonies and exploiting new planets. Achieve victory by various means: plot against other players and rob them of their property or peacefully explore and build colonies of your own.
The nature of the game springs from the nature of the players themselves. It's all in your hands!
Gameplay and rules overview
Each corporation boasts unique special abilities and objectives and their style partially determines the way you play. Some are aggressive and expand their power by force, while others focus on expansion and exploration.
The game focuses mostly on resource management and less on confrontations between players. Stamping out the competition is risky and challenging though definitely viable. But often it's a smarter choice to keep an eye on the opposition and to win by exploiting the available resources.
Individual secret Corporate Agenda cards are drawn by each player before the game begins. This gives each corporation one unique secret goal to score extra points or even win the game instantly. These additional objectives should not be revealed to others. Complete them to gain extra victory points and move closer to ultimate triumph!
All rules on the cards
With Off World you no longer need to memorise rules. The manual contains nothing more than basic mechanics teaching you the play sequence. All the rules used in the actual game are found on cards!
In Off World Amero is the worldwide currency used by corporations. In the game it represents your wealth, power and influence. They come in three values: 1, 2, and 5 Amero, and can be used as money to pay for space expeditions, colony development, and other purchases. They can also be used to play the effects listed on the given Amero card's backside.
Earth Event cards
Each turn the starting player draws one Earth Event Card. These describe the current events back on Earth: the state of the overall economy, natural disasters, and any possible catastrophes that affects earth at that time. It affects all players during that turn.
Planetary Incidents cards
Some planets may conceal surprises lying in wait for (un)fortunate colonists. The Planetary Encounter Cards describe what happens to the expedition team as they investigate a new system.
Corporate ID cards
Each player chooses one Corporation Card and places it on the table for easy reference during play. It details the corporation's special rules and additional goals and conditions that grant extra victory points if completed.
Only used in solo mode. These cards provide a unique experience, ensuring a different game every session!
The Off World universe
The entire galaxy is now within reach. The newly developed space-faring technology differs quite a bit from the ones shown in popular sci-fi movies and series. Travel takes years aboard humongous ships controlled by machines and a skeleton crew. The corporations try to entice people to become a member and to take part in space exploration teams. Most of the people enlisting will be desperados and adventurers, disillusioned by the meagre and unwholesome life on Earth. They decide to try their luck. What awaits them is either paradise or living hell. Either way the trip will be risky, and not just by the unknown dangers of unknown space, but also because of aggressive rival corporations and sometimes even... their own employer. But if fortune smiles, they'll discover the greatest miracles of our universe: habitable planets, a wealth in resources and maybe even alien life. It's certain is that great adventure awaits them and that they'll never return to the dying Earth. They will go Off World, to build better colonies.

Risks and challenges
This is our third Kickstarter, and we've managed to deliver our first board game, Human Interface: Nakamura Tower, in a reasonable time frame and to an excellent standard. Our second game, Human Interface Be a Better Human is in production. We've also since released a number of add-ons and models enriching the world of Human Interface. For over two years, week after week we've been publishing the latest on progress, new ideas, and more.
Forthright and on-time communication has garnered appreciation from the player community that has supported and advised us. We're committed to upholding and improving this standard. As with all board games, there are potential production, shipping, and customs delays. To minimize the risk, we make sure to use only services of trustworthy partners.
The game is mostly done, but depending on the number of stretch goals unlocked, we'll want to ensure that any new ideas added to the game are implemented perfectly before going into production. The game needs some polishing to finish. Planned release date is 10 months from the day the campaign closes. Shipping Boxes will be shipped most likely using the UPS tracked priority service, in safe cardboard boxes with foam inserts.
We can refund you within 14 days of the campaign’s end, fees included. After that, we have a policy of no questions asked, though that’s minus Kickstarter and payment processing fees (which we can’t get back from them after 14 days). However, if we’ve begun packaging your pledge for shipment (usually 4 to 6 weeks before the actual shipping date), no refunds are possible. If a component cannot be delivered AT ALL, we refund that completely, including fees.
All refunds after the 14 days close of the campaign may be processed via Paypal or reversed via Stripe to your credit card at our discretion. Refunds within 14 days are reversed via Stripe to your credit card.
This project is being funded in English Pounds and any refunds processed will be in this currency.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
