Last winter, inspired by the closing of an exciting year and the pretense of baby on the way, I wrote and recorded demos for ten heartfelt tunes I'd settled on. Shortly after, I assembled a crack team of musician friends and we began rehearsing for live arrangements. The first side of the album was recorded with the Blackstones, the rock band I assembled for the purpose of this record. The second side of the album features my bandmates from LAKE holding down the basic tracks. Sam Gray heroically made time to engineer the record at Dub Narcotic Studio in Olympia, WA. We took our time, and we tried out lots of different ideas. Featuring a total of 18 musicians, this is the first Skrill Meadow studio recording- everything previous had been produced at home. It was nice to get away from the technical side of making a record and focus on playing and arranging music. Finally, I was able to put my all into the creative process without having to push buttons and get tangled in wires!
The modern-soft-rock album I heard in my head has come to fruition, and it has been a true labor of love.
Releasing on vinyl is no small task, especially during the first year of supporting a family. This is going to take a group effort! Please support in any way you can, including sharing this info.
