I have currently been chosen to sing the role of La Badessa in Puccini's Suor Angelica with 2012 Opera Siena Summer Festival and Opera Gala in Siena, Italy, July 24-August 19. If that weren't wonderful enough, I have also been selected as a vocalist in the 2012 Grace Bumbry Vocal and Opera Academy and Concert Series, August 20-September 10 in Berlin, Germany!
It has been a career goal of mine to perform consistently in Europe, specifically Italy and Germany and now I've been given the privilege to do both! Italy, the seat of opera, has long been the definitive, quintessential location for some of operas most evocative tales. And working in Germany with the incomparable mezzo soprano Grace Bumbry while perfoming music by some of THE "Rockstars" of opera: Verdi, Puccini and Wagner will be transcendent, to say the least!
About the Program(s):
Beginning July 24, 2012, I am due in Siena, Italy to commence rehearsals for a minimum of four staged performances of Puccini's "Suor Angelica" with full orchestra. Additionally, I will be featured in 2 concert galas performing celebrated opera arias and opera scenes.
During my participation in the renowned Grace Bumbry Vocal and Opera Academy, I will again be featured in a concert gala performing celebrated opera arias and opera scenes where the repertoire will include music by celebrated Italian composers: Puccini, Verdi and Wagner.
In addition to performing Italian opera and concert programs, both companies will also assist in the polishing and placement of unrepresented singers with industry agents, provide voice lessons, coachings, role and language preparation and masterclasses.
I know--an incredible opportunity! Right? That's why I need your help today.
How will your pledges help?
I am raising funds to work and travel with/to the 2012 Opera Siena Summer Festival and the 2012 Grace Bumbry Vocal and Opera Academy. Both programs are specifically geared toward providing performance opportunities for new, emerging opera singers.
- Four performances of the opera "Suor Angelica", three performance concert galas and transportation to and from performance venues
- Accommodations/lodging in Siena, Itlay (4 wks) and Berlin, Germany (3 wks) for total of 7 weeks.
- Roundtrip airfare to Siena, Italy on to Berlin, Germany and return to Denver, Colorado
Grand Total: $5,800 dollars, all funds raised via this campaign will be used to offset the costs of this career changing endeavor. If the goal is surpassed, excess pledges will be used to enhance the musical experience of these programs by adding more performances, voice lessons and coachings.
Kickstarter is an "all-or-nothing" fundraising website. We can do this together or not at all!! If my fundraising goal of $5800 is not met, I get nothing.... So please, take this journey with me!
What is in it for you?
Most importantly, you have a unique opportunity to help a life-long dream become a reality and prove that you support not only emerging talent in classical music but also the essential preservation of the operatic/ classical arts in the world today.
If "all-things-opera" is your passion as is mine, then there is nothing more rewarding than investing in the future generation of talented opera singers, and therefore the future of opera. I often hear that opera is a dying art form therefore we must cultivate a younger audience and support new, talented singers to ensure its longevity.
Still haven't convinced you? Why me? Yes, I'd love for you to get to know me better. You may do so at: www.epapillionposey.com for my biography, recent videos, photos, past and upcoming events, etc. To show my sincere gratitude, I have created a list of rewards to further express my appreciation for your generous pledge. Have a look!
Thank you dearly for your time and consideration. Your choice to invest in what promises to be a remarkable future will leave an indelible mark on me and the world of opera, for years to come.
