Update: Major Reward Upgrade!
It's the holiday season, and we want to do something special for our backers. As a way to say thank you, we will be sending all of you who have pledged $50 or more a download of a professionally filmed, full-length District 97 concert of the original lineup performing In Vaults in its entirety, as well as our unreleased cover version of 'Walking On Sunshine"! Check out more info HERE IN UPDATE 8.
Here's a preview:
Well, it's been over a year since our last Kickstarter, when our fans came through BIG TIME for us and enabled us to make our third studio album, In Vaults. That was a really incredible experience, and we hope we did everyone proud! The response to the album was phenomenal, and we received tons of messages from people asking us when we'd be going on tour and when we'd be coming to their city. Well, at the time Leslie was very far along in her pregnancy, so we knew it couldn't happen right away. And then, we had to find new bass and keyboard players, so that took some more time. But now, all the puzzle pieces are in place and we are ready to come play for you! So, the question becomes, how can we do this without losing our necks?
Back when the music industry was booming, record labels used to bankroll world tours and provide bands with booking agents who would sort out all the particulars. Well, times have changed in a big way. That model has all but evaporated for those of us who came along in the 2010s. However, we still believe touring is a vital component of what we do. It is the culmination of creating new music; bringing it to the people who love it and want to experience it in the moment.
So, we humbly come before you yet again, and ask that you join us in helping us spread District 97 music near and far! Whether or not we're able to come to your area this time around (although there IS a reward level to bring us to your area), your pledge will help us thrive as a band and significantly widen our fan base (which can lead to more opportunities in the future). We've tailored the vast majority of the rewards to be just as fun and fulfilling whether or not you can come see a show. So, hop on board and let's bring some Prog to the people!

Risks and challenges
So, to be clear, in the event that this Kickstarter is not funded, the tour will go on because we feel we owe it to our fans after they stepped up so big for us the last time around. HOWEVER, If the campaign is not a success, we will take a massive financial hit, and this would more than likely be the last major touring endeavor we'll be able to undertake for the foreseeable future. We are asking for the bare minimum to cover our travel expenses to avoid that fate.
If it IS a success though, this could open up a whole new avenue for us in terms of how we can approach touring, and reveal a new range of exciting possibilities that could enable us to come to areas we've never been (like Japan, for instance) or places we haven't been for a long time (like the US West Coast). But first, we need your help to have this campaign succeed! Let’s make it happen!!!
(Other challenges we could face include some sort of act of God type of event that prevents the tour from going forward. If that were to happen, rest assured we'd make every effort to reschedule any cancelled shows. If that wasn't doable, the rewards are structured in such a way that with some very slight alterations, they could all still be fulfilled and be just as enjoyable. But, fingers crossed, that's something we won't have to deal with!).Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
