Update: We're funded, but there's still a lot to be done! Additional funds will allow us to do all kinds of things, like go on tour to support the album! Read more about that here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1801575573/district-97s-3rd-studio-album/posts/970827
In the 2 years since the release of our highly acclaimed sophomore effort TROUBLE WITH MACHINES, District 97 has been hard at work writing, arranging and rehearsing new music that strives to continually push the boundaries of what's expected in Rock music, all while maintaining an accessibility for a broad range of music fans. Through a number of tours in the US and Europe, we've honed this material to the point where we're ready to hit the studio and lay these tracks down for the ages. While we've saved just enough money to get started, we don't have nearly enough to bring the project to fruition. That's where we're hoping you will come in ;-)
In exchange for your pledge, you'll receive any number of rewards, many of which are exclusive to this Kickstarter campaign. Of course, most donors will get the new album when it's released in Spring 2015, but many rewards will be available immediately after completion of the campaign. One of the most exciting aspects of the rewards is that you can pre-order District 97 With John Wetton-One More Red Night (Live in Chicago). ONE MORE RED NIGHT is our new live album featuring renditions of classic King Crimson material sung by the original iconic vocalist, John Wetton. It will be released on October 6th, 2014 by Cherry Red Records, and every effort will be made to ensure you receive it on or before release day. John has been kind enough to sign a limited number of copies specifically for this campaign. Other rewards will include personal interaction with the band, handwritten lyrics from our archives, the opportunity to executive produce the album, and even the chance to own the drum kit that appeared on D97's first two studio albums and tours! Please contact us through Kickstarter or firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions on rewards.
How Your Pledge Will be Used
The costs of recording, mixing, mastering, creating artwork and everything else that goes into making an album are considerable. Therefore, we are setting our goal at a conservative $12,000 to cover all, or most, of those costs. If we are fortunate enough to exceed this goal, those additional funds would be used for the other myriad expenses the band faces for rehearsing, travel, lodging, gear etc.
Risks and challenges
The goal is to have this album completely finished by the end of 2014 and released in early 2015. While we think this is certainly realistic, juggling the schedules of the 5 band members, the recording studio, the mixing engineer etc. can sometimes lead to production delays. However, you can rest assured that, as a backer, you will receive the album at the earliest available opportunity. In order to tide you over, the rewards have been designed to get you other exclusive content as soon as the campaign is successfully completed.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
