Absolutely Defined is a line of shirts, reusable totes, hats, picture
frames, and other items that celebrate the commonality of all people.
Each product celebrates the positive words in our lives. Harmony. Unity. Joy. Love. Dignity. Respect. Balance. Empathy. Humanity. Evolve. And a host of others.
My vision involves putting all of those positive thoughts out in the universe on environmentally sound products. I'm using sustainable bamboo for photo frames, hats made out of recycled plastic bottles, and shirts and bags made out of recycled goods. Our packaging will be green, our web host is green, and we won't be leaving a footprint anywhere unless absolutely necessary.
We have two major themes, The "Defined" line features one of our positive words, the standard definition, and then the message we think is relevant to our world today.
The "Retro" line is a nod to 50's style advertisements; the simplicity and lightheartedness of the language used then as compared to modern use. It's a gentle reminder that here it is 60 years later and we are still discussing civil rights! Shouldn't we have evolved a little bit more by now?
So where does all this talk of positivity come from? Countless Google searches and Pride Festival visits left me wondering if there were any products on the market that I could either wear in public or display in my home; products that weren't angry or abrasive.
Where were the photo frames for gay families with children? Can I have a shirt that says we are one people, no matter how different we are? Can we lighten up just a little bit? I decided we could, so I started making them.
Evolve Eco-Friendly shopping tote, available in white.
Mom, Mom & Co. or Dad, Dad & Co. picture frames. These are made from sustainable bamboo and house a 4 X 6 vertical photo. No two frames are identical, as natural wood products have variations.

The website will feature both men's and ladies sizes. Plus sizes and multiple colors will also be available.**
Unity Hats available in Black & Khaki. This cap began life as a plastic bottle and now has a new purpose. After the bottle was recycled it became polyethylene terephthalate or PET and then spun into the yarn that created the fabric which is used for the cap. The word Unity and the rainbow are embroidered.
Currently we have product being made that will launch our web store. As soon as more finished goods arrive we will post pictures. Our design portfolio grows everyday and we are very excited about getting them onto products!
So what's the avenue to get our project out in the world? It's
Pennsylvania Avenue, of course! Carrying our message to the masses via
the streets of our nation's capital at the annual Pride Festival in
June. This year we want everyone that goes to Capital Pride, young and
old, singles and families, to walk away with a souvenir that exudes
positive energy! We'd like to distribute bracelets, stickers, buttons,
reusable bags, bamboo fans and whatever else we can afford, with words
'from the good list' in hopes of starting some conversations.
where you come in! Our Kickstarter campaign will allow us to meet the
minimum order quantities of our products to take to Capital Pride for giveaways and for sale. I've done the math and figured out that success at Capital Pride
could fund our expansion to festivals around the country! Little by
little, word by word, definition by definition, we could absolutely
change some minds. Absolutely.
Risks and challenges
I do have two partners working with me, all of us with varied skill sets. I'm confident we've covered all the bases as far as launching our store goes. Getting to Capital Pride is a huge deal but we've planned a practice run in a small city to make sure our planning is sound!
As for fulfillment, we will have all the product necessary to send prizes out in June. We have multiple supplier options in case of any setbacks. Rest assured, our backers will be taken care of and there will always be communication. Failure is not an option!
