A dance & music performance that eloquently explores the writings of Thomas Paine and his spirited advocacy for freedom and democracy.
Dear Friends and Family,
★ What is the Promise of America?
★ How are freedom and democracy packaged and promoted in America?
★ Is it possible to start over?
These are some of the questions I am tackling in a new work, To Begin The World Over Again, a collaboration between my company, DELIRIOUS Dances, and composer Joseph Phillips and his music ensemble Numinous. To Begin The World Over Again eloquently explores the writings of Thomas Paine and his spirited advocacy for freedom and democracy in America. The work premieres on Thursday, September 27, 2012 for six performances at Irondale in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, NY.
To Begin The World Over Again will coincide with a series of FREE community events produced by Purpose Lounge, that will include an art exhibition - The Promise and Realities of America; public discussions with scholars and activists; a poetry throw-down; and teach-ins. The community events are designed to give people the opportunity to actively engage with the ideals of liberty, democracy and equality that Thomas Paine believed were America’s promise and gift to the world – ideals that greatly influenced American identity, history and mythology.
The generosity of people like you, make the community events and production of To Begin The World Over Again possible. Your donation, no mater what size, is needed! The entire cost for the event is $45,000 and we are asking for your help in reaching our Kickstarter goal.
I look forward to sharing with you - To Begin The World Over Again!
Sincerely & Deliriously,
TO BEGIN THE WORLD OVER AGAIN
