WHAT IS DICE CHUCKERS?
Dice Chuckers is an intimate look at those among us who play role playing games (RPGS), those whom you might not expect. From lawyers to movie producers to professors, they're all around us. Someone you know might even love these games, or have fond memories of them from their youth. Modeled after one of my favorite documentaries, Trekkies, our documentary will open up this secret world, one of the last unexplored realms of Geekdom.
We also plan to chronicle the thoughts of great masters of this storytelling art form such as Steve Jackson and Ken St. Andre.
In our budget, we've allocated funds for hiring talented, young cinematographers, sound recordists, and picture editors. And because of the nature of a documentary, we've decided to purchase a pro-sumer HD camera which we'll then re-sell at the end of our shooting schedule. The depreciation on such an investment is far cheaper than renting similar equipment, and the money we recoup will be cycled back into post-production. We'll also be using funds for travel to the locations of various experts. The more funds we raise, the more experts we can visit.
Our project is right at the starting gate. We've made the professional contacts, we've got our initial group of gamers to follow, we've even got footage from last year's GenCon (which we'll be showcasing over the course of this campaign), we've created a budget, and we have a plan. All we lack are the funds.

WHO ARE WE?
Partnering with me on this project are two friends and fellow gamers, Christian Lindke and Joel Allan.
Christian Lindke has over 11 years of management experience running a non-profit where he has developed skills in building and managing communities of volunteers in a number of activities. He has coordinated simulation elections with over 100 schools and lOs of thousands of students. He has grown a network of civic engagement clubs at high schools in the San Gabriel Valley. Christian also has an intimate knowledge of the gaming industry and its movers and shakers. He made contacts through his Geekerati podcast and Cinerati blog, and while he was being interviewed by the Game Manufacturer’s Association (GAMA) as a candidate to be the GAMA Executive Director. He didn't get the job, but he learned a lot and met some great people in the industry.
Christian has been a supporter of crowd funded projects since he discovered Wolfgang Baur's "Open Design" patron backed rpg project. Since discovering Kickstarter, he has backed many interesting projects.
Joel Allan, Esq. With a combined law and business degree from the University of Southern California, Joel has seven-plus years of employer-side experience in employment law, including experience at a top-20 national firm. Among other things, Joel currently represents NFL, XFL, and MLB teams in workers compensation claims filed by former professional athletes. Joel has been a gamer for 20+ years, focusing on Dungeons & Dragons and Battletech, but with experience in a variety of game systems.
Kicking it Forward!
Christian, Wes, and Joel are all big time believers in the potential of Kickstarter. You can check out our personal commitments on the links provided above. We wanted to extend our support beyond our individual abilities, and to incorporate some of the profits of projects we fund through Kickstarter back into the community. Therefore this project will be participating in Kicking it Forward!
You can find out information about Kicking it Forward at http://kickingitforward.org.
We will be contributing 5% of the after tax profits of any project we fund on Kickstarter back into other Kickstarter projects.
