Mothership combines miniatures, strategy and dice combat games into an easy to pick up experience that everyone can enjoy. Control a fleet of ships and charge through the galaxy, capturing planets, building defences and amassing powerful technologies.
Play Deathmatch Mode in a gripping, last-man standing fight for power or play the fast and frantic Victory Point Mode. With game play that’s built from the ground up to eliminate end-game drag, you’ll find Mothership to be light-hearted, engaging and thrilling from start to finish.
Your fleet is composed of five unique ship types, including the versatile Mothership that can modify its weapons, shields and engines on the fly.
You’ll love Mothership if you…
...are looking for a tabletop combat game that is lighter and quicker than other strategy games.
...want to command a fleet of spaceships and battle your friends in exciting combat.
...love science fiction and blowing up space ships.
...have a casually competitive gaming group.
Get involved and help spread the word about Mothership! Social Goals will increase the content across the two expansions; Into the Vortex and Call of the Void.
To back Mothership with any of the add-ons, simply add the dollar amount of the items you wish to add to your total pledge amount.
Please note: the rule books are not final. Some changes will occur between now and production.
The great Space Disagreement of 5406 has forced your entire Colony to flee into the dark depths of outer space. But! You’re not alone! Other Colonies too seek refuge from the war. All scramble to harvest the valuable resources on undiscovered planets.
Your mission: destroy all other Colonies. Diplomacy is boring. Shoot first, confirm if they were enemies later...
How to Play Video
The best way to learn the basics is to watch the following video.
If you want to try Mothership before you pledge, check out the Tabletop Simulator mod on the Steam Workshop. A huge thanks to Ken Cunningham who lovingly scripted the mod over many sleepless nights.
How do all the modules fit together? Check out this video by Mothership super-fan Trueflight as he explains what the different modules add to the game.
Game Play Video
We were invited to play Mothership over Tabletop Simulator with the awesome team at Geek Spiel during this campaign. Below is a recording of that game in all it's two and half hour glory. This will give you a really good idea of how to play the Victory Point mode.
To get an idea of how a Deathmatch Mode game feels, check out this highlights video of the 1st Edition of Mothership that was played using the Into the Vortex Expansion:

Peter Sanderson is the lead designer, graphic artist and creator of Mothership. This is his greatest project ever and is the culmination of everything he loves about board games and science fiction.
Alkira Sanderson is the artist behind all of the beautiful background planet-scapes you see on the cards. Without her help, Peter would have had to actually pay someone.
Nathan Child is the team's giant brain. He is responsible for meticulously going over every detail in the game and play-testing every change while the rest of us go out on the weekends and enjoy life.
Bjorn Brett worked on Call of the Void's Distress Beacon cards. If you laugh at any of the stories, chances are Bjorn wrote that card. If you didn't laugh...well let's say he's responsible for that too.
Mike Strickland has been involved in Kickstarter projects for a few years and has done a great job in helping to polish up some back-end elements to bring this project to life.
Ken Cunningham is the mastermind behind the Tabletop Simulator version that you can download for free on Steam Workshop. After tirelessly working long nights to get the mod ready for this Kickstarter launch, Ken is officially a legend.
Risks and challenges
Even though our first project was successfully funded and fulfilled, we won't be resting on our past achievements. My team and I are fully prepared to overcome any obstacles that come our way and are determined to deliver the same great outcome again for this campaign.
Our second campaign, although cancelled, gathered enough attention to manufacture and deliver a small batch of 200 units worldwide.
We have an accountant who has costed the entire project from start to finish, and have partnered with an experienced and well established shipping company who are ready to ship Mothership to backers.
I pride myself on being open and honest, and if there are any problems or challenges that arise, you as the backer will be the first to know.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
