Delivery Update & Save the Date

Dear Mellows,

Today we have good and bad news for you.

The bad news: We’ve been told by some users that their batteries have fallen out of the frame with only minor shocks. We doubled our drop test distance in the lab and found the problem: some parts of the seal between the two halves are weak. According to our battery maker, the thickness we needed for flame retardancy of the plastic also resists the ultrasonic welding. A weak seam makes the whole case less rigid, leading to issues.

If this happens to you, stop riding and contact us right away.

The good news: We found a solution for this problem and all batteries/drives shipped here on in will be fine. We also will exchange all the batteries for the Kickstarters who already have received their drive.

Speaking of next delivery - this is planned for next week. We’ll give you heads up on that and update the Delivery Status blog entry with more exact quantities and dates.
