Dave Sommerfield, an inventor from Cocolalla, Idaho, invented the Personal Guitar Workshop (PGW) with every guitar enthusiast in mind.
The PGW was invented to solve the need for a workstation that was all things for your guitar - functional, portable and beautiful! There is nothing like the Personal Guitar Workshop on the market.
As a start-up company, we know the importance of making sound business decisions. That's why we have secured multiple patents (pending). The ability to never compromise and always retain our high standards is important to us. These patents will protect our ideas and mean outstanding quality for you.
Dave Sommerfield, LLC is proud to be attending the 2018 National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) in late January of 2018. With the funds raised through Kickstarter, we will be able to secure our desired factory, fulfill your orders, our NAMM orders, AND attain the highest quality manufacturing process available.
Understand the Personal Guitar Workshop
What the PGW is used for will vary from person to person and even guitar to guitar. A luthier will use it differently than a person just learning to change their strings. One guitar might need a good polishing while another will have never-ending repairs. But no matter what the use, it will hold your guitar safely and securely. Oh, they make a great gift too!!
We wanted the workshop to be easy on the eye and what we ended up with is something beautiful that you will want to display proudly. With mahogany and leather being the main materials, what comes to mind is furniture, not industrious or machine looking. It belongs in your living room, not the garage.
The PGW is just big enough for your guitar. It won’t consume your entire table, room, apt, house! Weighing in at just over 11 pounds, it is easy to move and handle.
Of course, the love of guitars was the backbone of the workshop idea. We love both acoustic and electric guitars and wanted a device that would make caring for our beloved instruments easier. We are fans of all facets of the music industry and felt that developing the idea of a workshop could be beneficial to many guitar owners and guitar professionals.
The functionality was the most important aspect of this product. We thought there has to be a better way than putting a towel on the kitchen table to change the strings, holding it on our lap or between our legs for cleaning, or creating a makeshift neck hold out of pillows for repairs. The PGW was designed to hold the guitar safely and securely in 3 positions, face-up, back-up, and on it’s side. Basically, a one-stop workshop! But there’s more…. After months and months of creating, and prototype after prototype, we thought we basically had it nailed. But we wanted to be sure. Quality is everything to us! We searched and found the 5 best engineers for the job. The PGW went from awesome to phenomenal! The look, feel, and function had now been perfected. And it got something new! A stand! The engineers designed a unique, collapsible stand for the PGW. With a guitar held tight (no matter what position), the PGW will easily slide into the stand for vertically displaying or holding your guitar. Nice, don’t you think?!
How can You help?
And now brings us to the time where we need to ask for your help. As you may know or can imagine, creating a new product is a costly endeavor. Development and prototyping are now complete and paid-in-full. We are ready to take the next step, manufacturing. The factory we desire specializes in wooden musical instruments, including guitars. They require a larger minimum first order than most factories but they are sticklers for quality. We want them! We ask you to please help us on this journey by making any pledge for any reward. We want to make this happen for you and your guitar. And we will thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Although we are unable to offer international shipping at this time, we will be doing so directly after our live campaign, should it get funded.
Because you are unable to order on this Kickstarter event, we will offer you the same reward that is being offered right now on our live event.
HERE IS HOW
1. The first reward listed is basically a $5 donation if we are funded. It comes with automatic updates about the PGW and our company. So if you donate, you will be on our list and anyone with an address outside the US will be invited to purchase a PGW(s) within 30 days after the campaign at the campaign price plus actual shipping costs.
2. Send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with your name address and email. You will be invited to purchase a PGW(s) within 30 days after the campaign at the campaign price plus actual shipping costs.
Risks and challenges
Most of our lengthy and painful challenges are behind us. It has taken 2 years, 3 months, and 13 days as of this writing to get this far. But the next step is an important one...We have our mind set on a factory that specializes in musical instruments, including guitar. They require a minimum order that is greater than most. Kickstarter will hopefully solve that problem. Dave will be right there at the factory, making sure that it all is completed up to his high standards. But there is a small risk that the first production units might need minor adjustments. Getting them correct is the contractual obligation of the factory, so we aren't too concerned there, but it can definitely cause a delay in delivery. All in all, we believe the risks and challenges are good ones to have!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
