WE DID IT!!! - NOW IT'S TIME TO PUSH FOR OUR STRETCH GOAL!
If you've already given to our project, thank you for helping us reach our goal of $5,000. If you haven't, please don't let the fact that we've hit our goal deter you. All the money that is made through our Kickstarter is going into the production value of our series, as well as marketing the finished product.
The more we are able to pull in, the better the show will be and the more people have an opportunity to see it. This is very important to us, because we want to find the largest audience possible for Internet Famous.
What the hell is Internet Famous?
In short, Internet Famous is the brainchild of Tom Williams and Chris Lee. Though originally conceived as a film screenplay, we realized the story worked better when told episodically and have written a season of seven webisodes that, with your help, we will shoot this summer.
What's it about?
The show centers on Andy Palumbo, a 30 year old Pittsburgher, who's recently lost his job, been dumped because he's too nice, and come to the realization his life is not going at all to plan. He is a smart and talented guy and figured by this point in his life he would be a successful writer, or filmmaker, or artist...or something. Part of Andy's problem is he's never really had drive or focus towards one concrete goal.
Andy likes to consider himself an intellectual and despises the instant celebrity culture that permeates America. When a video of him drunkenly ranting on exactly this goes viral overnight, Andy becomes the thing he hates the most: internet famous. Now, with help from his friends, Andy is trying to use the 15 minutes of fame he is being paid to finally make a statement of his own.
Is it funny?
Fuck yeah! We think so, at least. And, so do some other people who aren't related to us. The humor can be very crass though and admittedly not for everyone's tastes. "Dick jokes with heart" is how we describe it.
Why the Kickstarter?
Making movies, or in this case a web series, costs money. We have spent countless hours and quite a bit of our money in the last two years to get to this point. To continue to shoot the entire first season would cost more money that, unfortunately, we don't have.
What will my donation go towards?
In short, production costs. Equipment, craft services, locations, transportation, and insurance are all daily expenses we have to figure in when shooting. In addition, we have a terrific cast and crew, that require compensation for their efforts. Finally, we will need money to eventually market the series once it is finished.
Overall, though, we like to think your money is going towards an internet web series that you are interested in watching. If we thought there was no audience for this type of show, we wouldn't be making it, let alone asking for money to make it.
Risks and challenges
This is a project we have been attached to intimately over the past two years. Over that time, we have been met with numerous obstacles, and have found ways to overcome them all.
In addition, I have worked on many successful, as well as unsuccessful film sets. I've learned what works and what doesn't, and that preparation is the most important ingredient for success. We've prepared for as much as possible to get to this point. The scripts for all seven episodes are all written. Our cast and our crew are in place. We have the majority of our locations locked down. We are as ready as we can be to shoot this, and we have become experienced at responding to any curve balls that are thrown at us.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
