Hey there, my name is Erik Gordon and I'm the founder of Carabiner Coffee Company. I simply want to say THANK YOU so much for visiting this Kickstarter and supporting this new adventure for Carabiner Coffee Co! Here's the story of what this campaign is all about.
I started Carabiner Coffee with the mission of sharing an incredible cup of coffee along with the inspiration to do what you love. For over two years now I've have taken Ol Blue to countless places across the country meeting friendly faces in the outdoor community, sharing stories and most importantly sharing inspiration and encouragement over a great cup of coffee. The love and support that has come from those who have walked up to the door of the van has been overwhelming and never ceases to put a huge smile on my face. I can't imagine doing anything else with my life other than this and that's why I couldn't be more stoked for this next chapter. After two years of constant moving and settling in different areas around the west, it's time to find Carabiner Coffee a home and start spreading the love in a whole new way.
This Kickstarter campaign is to raise enough funds to open the first ever Carabiner Coffee storefront and coffee shop in Boulder, CO. Not only will this new location be the hub for Carabiner Coffee, it will also be supporting young grassroots companies that are striving to make their mark in the outdoor industry. The new space will be aptly named the Carabiner Collective!
The Plan is to keep it just as simple as it is in the van. We will offer small batch drip coffee, pourover and aero-press as the three main brew methods and not a latte in sight. Carabiner Coffee has always been focused on keeping things simple, honest and genuine and that is what I want the experience of visiting the Carabiner Collective to be. Our roast master has been roasting for over 30 years and our beans are responsibly and sustainably sourced strictly from small farms around the world. To me, that is what a great cup of coffee is made of and always will be.
The Funding from this Kickstarter will go towards many things to get this new venture off the ground. Here are the main objectives that will be accomplished when we reach our goal of $12,000!
+ Finding, renting and furnishing this new space with local, upcycled, recycled, hand crafted and community sourced materials. (it's going to be really really really good looking)
+ Expanding production and supply capabilities of Carabiner Coffee to reach and encourage more people to pursue their dreams. (This means having a desk for the first time ever in Carabiner history)
+ Collaborating with both local and national grass-roots companies who strive to promote a life of passion, adventure and connection to nature.
+ Providing a place for climbers, bikers, hikers, skiiers, riders, runners and simply just genuinely awesome people (and by genuinely awesome people, I mean all of you) to cultivate and share ideas, laugh and smile because life is beautiful thing and we're all in it together so we should all probably hang out.
What else will the Carabiner Collective offer?
Another goal besides serving you a great cup coffee will be to create a launching pad for small outdoor companies from across the country to showcase their products and put them in front of the outdoor community! There are many local Colorado companies that will be represented as well as others from coast to coast that are fueled by the mission to improve the way we play outside. I can't wait to give these companies a place to show the world the amazing things they are creating and the love that the outdoor community has for them.
Along with supporting small business, the Carabiner Collective will be a space to hold events, outdoor initiatives and simply a place to share the love of being outside! There won't be a day that goes by in this place that we aren't stoked to be there.
Does this mean Ol Blue and Carabiner Coffee are going to stop bringing you great coffee and good vibes across the country?
NO WAY! The Carabiner Collective will only improve the capabilities of coffee tours and give Ol Blue a place to rest her wheels whenever we aren't on the road. Meeting you all out in the wild places is what this company was built on and that will never go away.
PLEASE if you have any questions about this new venture or even new ideas of what you would like to see it become, I'd love to talk with you about it!

Thank you from the bottom to the top of my heart for supporting this campaign and the truly awesome outdoor community that it is meant to inspire.

Risks and challenges
The main obstacle in establishing the Carabiner Collective will be finding the perfect location for the space. We will be looking for a centrally located space with easy access bike routes, trails and foot traffic. The faster you can bike, run, ride or slide here there better. Since we will be keeping it simple in the coffee arena, we will not have to go through as many hurdles of health codes and licensing which are always the worst enemy of every new shop. Over the past few years of starting and running Carabiner Coffee out of Ol Blue I've learned how to keep the mission simple and the experience amazing. I can't wait to see this new adventure come to life for the outdoor community both in Boulder, CO and across the country.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
