About

$6,360

The Sun & The Wind is an adaptation of an Aesop classic fable - with a twist!  Not only will you be joining me in launching my first children's book, but you will get 29 original Randy Hale watercolor images.

All donations are appreciated more than I can express.  Your donations will go toward the creation of Lee Ritz Publications, a truly self-published publishing company.  Far too often, authors lose their creative control, rights, and passions by submitting their works to large publishing companies or web based self-publishing service companies.  My mission is to not only publish my stories to enhance your lives, but to help other authors fulfill their dreams by teaching and sharing with them the tools they need to truly self-publish their own works of art.

All monies received will be used to launch my first title and will cover the costs of copy editing, content editing and layout, cover design, submission to printing presses, and marketing of the initial book launch.

Please help support writers, story tellers, and authors around the world by giving them a platform on which to rise up and display their works without getting taken advantage of by conventional publishing options.  All of the tools to publish a book are out there.  Help me teach others how to realize their dreams of becoming a published author!

Currently, I have five books in design and production.  I need your help to breathe life into them.

Thank you.

Lee Ritz

Risks and challenges

Some of the risks involved with publishing a book include: loss of creative control, marketing, inventory, and distribution.

By networking among fellow artists, I have made some amazing connections and have been able to meet some amazing illustrators. Not all suited the needs of my first project, but have either inspired me to think in new directions of how they could fit into future works, or will be someone that I can refer to fellow authors in the future. By doing so, the illustrations in my books fit exactly with the images that I have imagined as I write my stories.

There is an extensive family of "Friends" out there through the world of social media and this creates an amazing platform to share an author’s project quickly and efficiently. I plan to utilize the global network of social media to attract a broader audience to my project(s). In addition, I will use my project to benefit children locally ( and abroad, if I am invited ) by volunteering my time to conduct book readings and storytelling workshops at local schools as well as offering donations to those schools through book sale promotions. Giving back to the community that built you is a core value that I hold dearly.

Distribution and Inventory levels are always a concern for any business. By utilizing an already well established, world-wide network of distribution channels via Amazon and Lightning Source, I can offer customers fast product delivery and no hassle returns with guaranteed satisfaction. Print on Demand (POD) capabilities ensure that inventory levels remain low with no commitment from the author to buy large quantities of their own book(s). Offering discounts to traditional bookstores and libraries ensures that they can sell my product for a fair price and profit margin. They also have the option to return the books for full purchasing price, which instills confidence in my product.
